I don't believe GW management allows 'sticky posts' but they do have other features that can achieve the same result. The "My Clippings" option allows you to save threads you feel significant or especially informative, both for your own purposes or to share. And the search feature works for this purpose too. I can't count the number of times I've tracked down an archived thread I've needed a piece of data from. And as noted, if it is that useful or valuable a thread, including it into the FAQ's is an excellent idea.

I kind of think it's little silly to keep the hostess gifts going round and round. When I entertain, I prefer to take care of everything from soup to nuts, and that's how I like to be a guest, too. Taking or receiving a "little token something" like a book or dish towel, flowers or wine, seems completely unnecessary to me. It's too much like trying to be imaginative or thoughtful, as if the gesture relieves one of writing a thank you note. I believe my hosts mean don't bring anything when I ask them what I can bring. I don't know what the etiquette books say about writing notes nowadays, though. I always send a note to my hosts immediately, thanking them for a lovely time. As a guest, I never take anything unless I'm asked to, which I do happily. The only events I'm ever asked to take something to are BBQs and summertime parties, and then the hosts are specific in ther requests. Evenings with friends, or the less frequent, fancier dinners, nada. I love having people in for dinner, and we're having two couples here tomorrow night. I'm sure they won't bring us any gifts, and we'll have a wonderful time. Sherry

ImHappy I agree the work on the grocery store must be going on around the clock for it to be opening . But the building they took over had been a retail store. I would imagine all the shelves would have been moved out. Not sure what they could get out of the old store before it was demolished as I heard that was in the process. Since the National Guard has been called in I am not sure if they can do anything to help this store situation but just getting the roads cleared was a huge help for people and emergency vehicles. Lots of help lines have been set up for people needing help with snow removal. Of course my snow is cleared for now but I happened to have a second young strong guy stop by to offer his help when/if we get bogged down like we were. He said he has a tractor and can clear my driveway for me and work on the roof snow removal if i need it. It is so weird the snow sticking to the roof like it has this year. Old timers having been around 70 or more years said they have never seen this happen in their life time. The heavy snows yes but to all stick and stay up on roofs is not normal. I still need to get out and do a quick shovel of the snow that drifted around in my driveway before the next storm comes in. I am in no hurry to get that done but I guess I better do it soon. It is not much and only on one side of the drive. Warmer out there so far today so maybe today is the day.
