Anybody tried Tide Laundry Pods?
Comments (17)Well I did try them out and I was surprised. I actually like them. And that surprises me. While I agree about the measuring can be adapted, I seldom change amounts anymore. My big thing is stench. This was the biggest surprise. I really noticed a time difference in popping in a pod verses taking down the bottle or box, measuring out the detergent, rinsing the cup (for liquid) and putting it away. OK, maybe 30-45 seconds but it was actually noticeable. Plus my shoulders didn't feel the "creak" that grunting the jug or box did. And I would imagine that for people who do a lot of laundry the time could add up. Coupled with a Stain Release packet rather than scooping Borax, Oxi, dishwasher detergent or other boosters, that could be a few minutes of time savings per load. For me, not a huge thing, but as I said for people who are washing clothes non-stop... Effectiveness? It's Tide. It works. Now the biggest surprise I mentioned. I use the stench-free version so I was very apprehensive about the smell. The first load I noticed immediately that the smell when taking the clothes out of the machine had next to nothing for smell. BIG surprise. I expected the usual stench that people think means clean clothes. After drying there was nothing noticeable. Thought it could be a fluke but I've done about 5 loads so far and the smell just isn't there like with the other versions. My sister and another friend tried them too. One said they noticed a "faint" smell but both of them were shocked too. So, will I be buying them regularly? Probably not. Not because I don't like them or anything but simply because I have about 2 years worth of detergent sitting on the shelf to use up. However, should I take a trip and plan to do laundry on the road, you bet I'll buy some of them though. Thought about trying out the Arm & Hammer version since I could get them for free but given my experience with A&H in the past, even being free, I'll pass....See MoreBeloved Tide Victory Boost pods, are now Tide Odor Rescue pods
Comments (18)I think the original Tide/bleach boost pods were discontinued in 2012.perhaps if Tideman sees this he can straighten it out. But remember P$G has had a lot of *originals* lol Take Tide for example, many folks here refer to lets call it **Larsi's Tide* LOL as being the original scent Tide, but there was another original Tide scent, up until the early, (I think 1972) when P$G got it in their heads to reformat Tide and changed its original scent to Larsi's original Scent Tide. I'm sure there are a few of us on this board that can remember the awesome and wonderful scent of the #1 original scent of Tide. This probably has to do with ones age, in my age group the original scented Tide was taken from me in the 70's...some of you younger ones will remember Larsi's Tide as being the original. So where was I going with these thoughts...I haven't the foggiest..LOL...See Moredadoes, about those Tide pods . . .
Comments (3)I don't use laundry pods and have never tried them so I don't have any personal experience. One of my neighbor's tenants at a rental property uses Tide pods. Last time I was there to swap-out the washer he provides (it had developed a couple fatal problems not related to pods), I noticed a gray residue on the machine's agitator and inner drum. The tenant probably uses one pod per load, which isn't enough in an "old-style" deep-fill agitator washer on a full load (she has 3 kids in the house so lots of laundry). I advised her to use 2, maybe even 3 pods on very large loads of heavy-soiled items. City water at that location is pretty hard. The orange-ish gelatinous residue was in the toploader that my nephew and his GF use, with Tide pods. The residue wasn't directly in the pump (although there could very well have been some in it), it was in the bottom of the outer tub around the drain outlet where residual water remains. Most of the rest of the bottom of the outer tub also had a thin layer of hard, black residue which did not clean off very well. It doesn't appear to be mold (not slimy or typical mold color). I can't say that's directly related to pods, it could be caused by the local water conditions where he lives ... but could also be the water conditions reacting with the pods. I don't know long they've been using pods....See MoreAny Tide Pods that don’t smell strong?
Comments (2)Nope. I find that Tide Pods are far too sudsy, do not clean well enough, and as you have found smell quite strong. The liquids clean much better and cost less....See MoreDiggingInTheDirt
