I'm not a big fan of premeasured cleaning supplies. Why? Because generally speaking, for the cleanest laundry, I find that using about 1/4-1/3 works far BETTER than using the 'recommended amount'. Using less detergent, your clothes get cleaner because there's less gunk redeposited on them. The manufacturers generally recommend far more than necessary so they can--what a concept--SELL more than you need.

I never heard of them. I remember many years ago that I used some kind of large tablet shaped detergent. At that point I was going to the laundromat and it was easier to grab a few of these than take along a box of detergent.

I love the Cascade gel pacs for the dishwasher, but I do change the amount of detergent for the washing machine depending on the size of the load.

I haven't tried them, but if I were doing laundry in a condo or apartment laundry room, taking clothes to a laundromat I might buy them.

As it is, I have a washer and dryer and the pods cost more per load. I buy my laundry detergent in bulk at Costco and like Azzalea, I use probably half or less the amount that is indicated on the box instructions.

Years ago I (many years ago, when newly married) I did bookkeeping for an appliance store that had its own in-house repairman and he taught all of us young girls how to do laundry. Putting in a little soap, then looking to check suds amount, was one of his rules, telling us using as much as the manufacturers indicated was needed was wasted money, and most of the time clothes wouldn't rinse clean, shortening their life and appearance. Also harder long term on the washers.

They advertise on tv regularly.
Like the other said, I would never buy them, but them I'm not big on "convenience" items. They are expensive, and would have far too much "product", than we need.

I use my home-made liquid detergent, and have a bottle of X-tra detergent as well. Once in a while I'll do a load using a name-brand detergent, and use less than the recommended amount.

I haven't tried them. But here's what I do. I pour liquid detergent into the pre-measure "cup"- lid they provide. Then I pour detergent on the stains on my laundry. Sometimes I use the entire cup as a pre-treat, sometimes I have plenty left over. Then I just dump any remaining liquid into the washer and let it run. I prefer a hot water wash and cold rinse.

I picked up some of the All Free & Clear ones. I didn't really like them. I have a front loader and it seemed to leave a sticky residue in the door. Generally front loaders use less soap so maybe it was just too much. I also thought they were a little pricy compared to regular. it might be nice for convenience sometimes or for traveling. Mine will be going back to school with my DS.

I quit using Tide altogether as it left a unpleasant perfume smell on my clothes.

I love Tide with bleach. I thought about trying the pods but it does cost more per load. I might just try them anyway to see if I like them.

I was in Costco later this afternoon and they had both - concentrated powdered tide with the individual unit price (per load) of .150.... The Tide pods were .222 per load, or 90 pod box for $20. (actually was $19.99)

Tide products are way too high sudsing for the water where I live. A few years ago, a reputable Maytag repairman told me that using a low sudsing detergent would make my appliances last years longer, so I stopped using Tide after that.

I don`t like scented products. Love using the homemade liquid laundry. No suds either, so perfect for top and front-load machines. Several of us here use the homemade with excellent results.

I have some of them but haven't tried them yet. Will be doing laundry later on though. I have tried the Stain Release packets and I do like them. I've talked to several friends who really like those.

Target had a promo week before last with a free sample on Tide liquid. I saw there's still some left at my local stores.

In reading about them, they're made to be used in either HE or non-HE machines. I talked to a P&G muckymuck and she said it's a one dose for any machine but if you have a super high capacity and very dirty clothes, you might use two.

I've never been happy with All, and it's not a P&G product, has no enzymes and isn't as good a product so comparing them to Tide's version is apples & oranges.

The idea of them is convenience of the "pods". For me it's not a big deal. I want something that works well.

Hubby is allergic to any Tide product. I use the liquid products instead of dry. Works better in my water.

I got one free and used it and it was fine. I normally buy Tide HE liquid.

I have not heard of the Tide Resolve "Pods", but I have tried the Tide Stain Release [pillow-pacs] that desolve completely in the wash. I think they help keep the colors much brighter. My DM had a blouse that she said was an "off-white" not to worry about it. I washed it with my light blouses and it came out a lot closer to true white; she was impressed. I keep buying them, hope you give them a try. I don't know if this is the "Pods" you are asking about, but since the general subject was open....l.marie

I have one that came with my bottle of Clorox. I agree with Azzalea that pre-measured products are wasteful overkill.

I have a front loader and use Sears He in it. I only use 1/2 the recommended amount and my laundry is clean and doesn't have the issues I read about on the laundry forum.

Well I did try them out and I was surprised. I actually like them. And that surprises me. While I agree about the measuring can be adapted, I seldom change amounts anymore. My big thing is stench. This was the biggest surprise.

I really noticed a time difference in popping in a pod verses taking down the bottle or box, measuring out the detergent, rinsing the cup (for liquid) and putting it away. OK, maybe 30-45 seconds but it was actually noticeable. Plus my shoulders didn't feel the "creak" that grunting the jug or box did. And I would imagine that for people who do a lot of laundry the time could add up. Coupled with a Stain Release packet rather than scooping Borax, Oxi, dishwasher detergent or other boosters, that could be a few minutes of time savings per load. For me, not a huge thing, but as I said for people who are washing clothes non-stop...

Effectiveness? It's Tide. It works.

Now the biggest surprise I mentioned. I use the stench-free version so I was very apprehensive about the smell. The first load I noticed immediately that the smell when taking the clothes out of the machine had next to nothing for smell. BIG surprise. I expected the usual stench that people think means clean clothes. After drying there was nothing noticeable. Thought it could be a fluke but I've done about 5 loads so far and the smell just isn't there like with the other versions.

My sister and another friend tried them too. One said they noticed a "faint" smell but both of them were shocked too.

So, will I be buying them regularly? Probably not. Not because I don't like them or anything but simply because I have about 2 years worth of detergent sitting on the shelf to use up. However, should I take a trip and plan to do laundry on the road, you bet I'll buy some of them though.

Thought about trying out the Arm & Hammer version since I could get them for free but given my experience with A&H in the past, even being free, I'll pass.
