And...on the subject of wedding manners

DH and I own a beautiful log cabin, which sleeps 6. (We just sold it) His good friend asked if his daughter could borrow it for her bachelorette party. DH met the maid of honor (30 miles away) at the cabin because she wanted to make sure it was "suitable", and told DH the savings on not renting a place allowed them to plan other expensive activities for the bride.

DH and I spent an entire day cleaning, polishing windows, vacuuming, shining everything up, washing the sheets and carefully making up the beds so everything was perfect.

His friend called a couple of days after and said the girls had a good time. That's it. No thank you from the bride or her bridesmaids. Nothing.

Are we wrong to have expected some sort of acknowledgement for the work we put into making their day special, and for providing the accomodations? If so, who should have formally thanked us? The bride? The maid of honor?

DH wants to forego the wedding gift.
