Okay finally got the tree down....and now I can't believe the mess I have but if you were me how would you put the furniture? I can't move the tv as that is the only outlet for our satellite...any ideas? (and no it really is not all this trashy actually it was clean when i started but wow what a mess I made taking down Christmas LOL

If you post this on the *Decorating Forum* there will be lots of great advice. People there have great 'thinking outside the box' ideas.

To rearrange the room I would first, clear the whole room of everything. Yes, everything. Every little knickknack and lamp. Then, arrange your couch grouping to the way you want it. Then slowly add back the items you use (lamps) and like (deerhead?). Then as you go, when you feel the room has "enough", stop. Get rid of anything not useful or not loved.

Are you going to be painting at this same time? A nice Moss Green will compliment the 'up north' feel to the place and compliment the paneled wall while helping to tone down the Rose colored carpeting.

You say the TV stays and stays right where it is. Do you use all three pieces of seating? Maybe consider putting the loveseat in another room in the house? It does not look like you use the little oak desk since you have a laptop, so I would really consider getting that out of the LR too.

This biggest problem with the room right now is that the couch blocks both the view and the path into the room. I would start by putting the couch on an angle and have it facing directly in front of the TV. Put the chair over by the window facing into the room. Pull the loveseat forward and angle it in the corner. If you decide to get rid of the love seat from the room put the chair in that corner instead.

I would hang all the decorative plates on the wall in a grouping. The plates look really pretty but they get lost spread out on the oak shelves.

I use a Spreadsheet to design and arrange furniture. I create a graphic with the columns and rows. Use the Shapes to add furniture. I use it for garden planting too.

Oh, I missed a sentence up there LOL, that is the bush/tree with the deck that we cut down. The SO was cutting it while I was taking pics. I had to get them taken before he cut down all the tree/shrubs in pic #2 because I wanted before and after pics. In pic #10 if you look in the background at the bottom of the hill you can see one of the neighbors houses, this is the one I want to block the view from. I am planning on planting some fast growing trees in a line. In pic #9 on the right side of the pic is my holding flowerbed we put in too, I am using it as a nursey bed for young plants. I didn't take a pic of my WS containers LOL. Dan, tell the kids I said thanks for thinking about me, but I think we will leave the scratching and rubbing to lavish on them! LOL. Bunny, I am a country girl through and through, I can't stand the thought of living in the city although we did consider it but only for a minute. I like being in the country and NOT seeing my neighbors everytime I go outside. At the other house the trailer park folk would pull up chairs to watch us that I think that is 1. RUDE and 2. CREEPY, WHO does that? Joan, I am so totally pleased to be here. It is a small country house and it could use some work but I am tickled to finally have a place that I am surrounded by nature and not homes. We even have a nice size front porch to sit out on when we get it cleaned off LOL. It is so peaceful here, with the exception of the little &^*&^* that run up and down the main dirtroad on the trail bikes and 4 wheelers but if I had one I would be too! hehe. I am just so pleased to be here. A lot of folks wanted to see the place and this thread was the easiest way for me to share. In the front yard where that little ridge is, we are putting a flowerbed in there too, to make it more level. Can't understand WHY someone would make a cut out section in the front yard but someone did! Crazy is all I can say. Ok, well, thanks for the comments. Have a great night. :) Fran

Oh, sorry, I didn't mean they were hunting, they were just gliding around in circles, very, very high, from what I have read, this is common behavior for red-tailed hawks around this time of year and has something to do with mating. I was able to get a good look with my binoculars and they were definitely hawks. They have been doing this lately, more so on sunny days, usually at least two, sometimes more, but that day there were more of them than I have ever seen! Very pretty!

I think the key is a big mirror and overly-adequate lighting (an overhead light plus bright sconces). Shiny surfaces like tile or metallic wallpaper would also help. These aren't mine, but are all interesting small (windowless?) powder rooms: okay, this one has a window but its one of my favorite powder rooms ever! or you could embrace the dark and go for rich and cozy

Itlrot: Just when I say I don't like shades you send this one. I like this. Avesmor: The ceiling is at least 11 ft so I can go pretty big and dramatic. Definitely no glass shades and I prefer down light (I think) Bh401: Thank you for all of these images. About two years ago I asked for a dining room chandelier idea and I bought one that looks like your number 1,6 and 7. I think they might be too close in proximity to go that similar. Thanks guys. Yes we use all the furniture....espically when all the kids and friends are here....I have to keep the oak (ugly desk) as I am just using the laptop until my puter gets home. I am over my big library table (don't think it shows in the pic but not sure where to put it?? I don't want to get rid of it...but it ends up being a catch all....Actuall the walls I painted a year ago so they stay I hate the carpet (came with house) but is in great shape so really can't justify getting rid of it..and yes LOL we love our deer head.....going to move everything like you said and try that out! I'd actually put the couch under the deer head, and have the chair and love seat "in the room". or the chair in a "reading" corner near the fireplace...over in that far corner that the hutch is at right now..

Okay tried the first one that didn't look right or I didn't do it right....so trying terris way now...gayle would love to try drawing it out but this mess is killing me...maybe if I get it so so today I can sit down tonight and try that sure would be easier on the back ya know...Stacy
