I am thinking they have to say business casual mostly for the men who might show up extremely casual. YKWIM?

I looked on the Chico's site, and the jumpsuits do not look business casual to me. I also would just wear pants. Black pants and maybe get myself a new lightweight sweater or top.

I remember from my 20th HS reunion, the committee wanted the dress cocktail attire. Some people declined to come because of the dress suggestions, and many people who were there were not in cocktail attire by any means.

As long as the jumpsuit isn't too revealing, I think you'll be fine. Chico's is a good choice; typically middle of the road between casual and formal.

I would say business casual means you can wear pants. I don't feel comfortable wearing pants to a wedding, but plenty of women even do that. Honestly, anything goes these days...I just wouldn't wear tee shirts and jeans, which is my usual daily attire! If it was me, I'd wear some nice pants, some kind of pretty top or sweater wrap thing , some makeup and perhaps some jewelry.

I could find only one jumpsuit on Chico's site and I think it would be perfect, especially accessorized. I'm sure you'll see a little of everything at the event, so don't stress over it and wear what you're comfortable in.

Is this the jumpsuit with the removable spaghetti straps. If so, I think it would be fine but add the spaghetti straps and some colourful jewellery.

For me though, it just looks really black and with the waist detailing it looks like it would be tough to add a nice belt which is something I would normally suggest.

Business casual for mean can mean khakis and a nice shirt, or even jeans and a sports jacket.

Business casual is a casual style of dress, intended to allow people to be perfectly comfortable but dressier than shorts and a tee shirt.

I would wear a nice pair of slacks, a terrific top, and some pretty shoes.

I tried to post a pic, but it didn't work. The jumpsuit style is called "Jade" and is sleeveless, crossover v neck, tie belt and somewhat wide legs.

I think this jumpsuit looks fine for the party, although I would not classify it as business casual, as it looks more like party or cocktail attire. Therefore I think it is a good choice for a party, but I would not recommend wearing it to an office. Unless you already have this item, however, it might not be available for sale, as the web site says they are sold out. I would recommend nice heels with it and a nice necklace, as in the photo.

Fashion varies greatly from one part of the country from another, and what is acceptable in Southern California for some occasions might not be get the same reaction in upstate NY. Also, climate is a consideration for wardrobe. In warmer climates, such as Florida, Texas, and the Southwest, the rule about no white shoes after Labor Day does not apply. The Northeast is more conservative, and also the Pacific NW, from my experience. I've never been to the Midwest, and so I cannot speak about that. Since you will be wearing a wrap, I am guessing that it might be getting cold already where you live.

I was looking at the Jana jumpsuit so you can ignore my comments!

I like the jumpsuit and think it would be very appropriate for a "business casual" reunion. Business casual does not mean a skirt. I'd think twice about a wrap, though, and would instead wear a jacket of some type. A jacket would afford the option of being a bit more conservative and warm, but you could ditch it when the dancing starts! I went to my dad's 50th a number of years ago and my 40th last summer and both had dancing. And many danced. At mine last summer, shoes were left under the table unless they were fairly flat. Wear comfortable shoes!

Just have to ask about the jumpsuit...wouldn't it be very inconvenient to use the restroom with that?

I think the Jade Jumpsuit from Chico's looks fantastic and will be perfect for a "business casual" party, especially with some great jewelry.

I would not translate "business casual" so strictly that it would be something I would wear to the office. I think it is an indication of the level of formality. To me "business casual" means dressier than "casual" but not as dressy as "cocktail."

At least they didn't give you one of those really nebulous (and somewhat obnoxious) terms like "casual chic." Or "beach formal." Or "city casual." Or "festive attire." Or "smart casual."

I'm with coll_123. I've never understood the appeal of jumpsuits, considering that you have to almost completely undress to use the restroom.

I had a jumpsuit the last time they came around. It was very easy to wear and very comfortable. Using the bathroom wasn't difficult. You just roll the top down and hold it like you would the waistband of your slacks.

Love the jumpsuit and I think it will be fine for the occasion. I agree, take a jacket with you so you won't be cold if it's chilly. Wear some fab jewelry or a pretty scarf and you're done.

I think it's a lovely choice for a reunion dinner.. I think business casual is a ridiculous sliding scale. It is absolutely not helpful. In some environments it means anything but flipflops and tees-- for others, it means dress slacks but no tie. I'd dress for the location (since it is a dinner). If I don't know the environment of the place, I generally shoot to err on the dressier side. I think the jumpsuit works for quite a range. It would be lovely at a patio event as well as in more formal white tablecloth setting.

wouldn't add a jacket to it-- a wrap is perfect (assuming it is warm enough) but I would go for fabulous vs fancy. No lace, sequins or shine.

I have worn jumpsuits before and never found them difficult when using the restroom. I'm so glad that most of you find it appropriate for the event. I really like it and feel good in it.

jmc01 - I had thought about a jacket, but given that it' s criss cross v neck, what type of jacket would you suggest? Collared or otherwise? I have a cobalt blue jacket from a pantsuit that I love (pants are too snug thanks to vacationing a couple of weeks ago!). Might that work?

The event is being held at a country club in Baltimore, MD. The weather forecast is for mid 60's, but we'll be inside. The wrap I had planned to use is silk, and is gradient from black to gray to blue to cream. DH bought it for me on our trip to Italy years ago. I'm sure he would be tickled if I wore it Saturday night. Sound OK?

Because of the crossover V of the jumpsuit, I'd go with a more traditional blazer from the standpoint of the shape of the neckline. I'd opt for a shorter length, tho...something mid-hip.

I was going to suggest a pashmina, but I think the silk scarf with its provenance would be especially good. You're going to look fabulous, dahling!!

If it were me, I'd prefer a jacket to a wrap because a jacket stays on better and needs less fussing, it is warmer, and I'd be concerned that a wrap could look too fussy, too "wedding guest". Also, for me, especially if there is a cocktail hour, I'd be dunking that baby into every dip or bowl...

I like the softness of a wrap, especially the sentimental one you describe, with that jumpsuit. Since you'll be inside I can't imagine you'd need to wear it, though.

I would wear the jumpsuit with the wrap. I would totally feel comfortable wearing that to our club. Most of the women on a Saturday night wear a comparable level of dressy. I wear a lot of items from Chico's and wear many of them to our club, the jumpsuit will be perfect.

I will be wearing the jumpsuit. Thanks for the feedback. Now, onto the next issue - jewelry. Most of my "good stuff" is gold, but I think silver will probably look better. Maybe a simple necklace and bracelet? My hair covers my ears so earrings probably aren't an issue. Ideas on accessories?

I love the idea of your silk scarf! I think the colors will be perfect, and your DH will love that you will be wearing it. A jacket/blazer would be too chunky and tailored for this beautiful jumpsuit.

From what you've described, yes to the silver. Not too diminutive and not blingy.

Gold goes with everything---I would not wear silver to an evening event with a black jumpsuit.

Look at it this way----somebody has to be the best dressed person at the party----it might as well be you!
