Building a shelf over the washer may be an ideal solution. It would allow any brand/model of dryer to go up there ... and (theoretically) eliminate the need to physically remove the dryer from atop the washer if the washer needs service. Assuming the washer's plumbing connections will be behind it, you MUST make sure there's access to turn off the faucets, disconnect the power and so forth in case of a problem or flood situation.

Bought a Kenmore Oasis washer from their Outlet Store (scratch and dent model) in Atlanta last week for half price, and have a problem. I keep getting an error code LF on every Final rinse cycle. It works great until it gets to the final rinse, and then it just trickles the tiniest amount of water into the drum from the top/back edge of the machine with no agitation of the drum what-so-ever... I just hear a slight humming sound like maybe the sollenoid isn't opening fully for the rinse cycle...This problem lasts for about 25 minutes then it stops and flashes up a "LF" (stands for Long Fill) message, and then I have to press stop open the lid, and manually fill the tub with water from my laundry sink hose to cover the clothes. I then close the lid press "Start" and it finally senses the water level has been reached, and it resumes the final rinse and spin. I have checked the water hoses, and there is NO blockage. However, this machine did NOT come with fill hoses and I purchased two new hoses from Lowes that were anti burst/restrictor hoses, so maybe these hoses are not allowing enough water to get through, though like I said, it only happens on the final rinse cycle. Water flows in normally at the beginning of the wash cycle so I feel it insn't the hoses. Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Any info would be appreciate before I get my hubby to load the washer back up in his truck and return it to the Sears Outlet Store.

Thanks for the information. I'm going to look into the Electrolux 60 models. BTW, my dryer is a gas dryer and I opted to get less features on the dryer than on the washer (mostly no steam) and saved quite a bit of money that way. On the other hand, it wrinkles my clothing! I still think I don't need the steam on either appliance, but I do need large capacity and a few other bells and whistles (especially sanitize) so I'll probably wind up with way more features than I'll want to use. If anyone else has a high recommend for another front loading brand besides Electrolux, I'd like to hear about it. Thanks again!

For every appliance I have ever owned, I have always bought Ext. Warranty. Sometimes I have needed it, and sometimes not. My Mom had 5 year Ext. warranties on her very expensive, top of the line GE washer & dryer. The dryer gave her a lot of problems about 4 years into ownership. After Sears/GE tried several repair attempts, they finally gave her all her money back and she bought a new dryer. Money WELL spent on an Ext. warranty! Years ago, I needed a substantial repair on a Miele oven. I believe they told me the repair was well oven $1000.00. My $249 Ext. warranty covered every cent of the service, labor and parts. ALWAYS think of Ext. warranties like car insurance. Most of the time you will never need it, but man when you do need it.....You are so darn happy you have it!! :) -Larsi
