Advice needed with bad install - what would you do?

We just had one of the top A/C installers in the state install a new carrier central system (Carrier Infinity 17 SEER two-stage condenser and Carrier Infinity two-stage air handler). At the end of the day after everything was installed, as the installer was testing it, they had a problem that they could not resolve. They called in a specialist at reading the Carrier codes and he could not fix it. He said that he problem was either a bad board in the condenser or a bad thermostat.

My wife is insisting that if it a bad board, that they replace the entire condenser, and not just the bad board. IÂm not sure if this is reasonable.

Any recommendations out there? Do you think they should replace the entire condenser?

(Except for a 25% deposit, we have not paid them anything else yet)

Thank you!
