Can I go 1 ton oversized, with an Infinity 24ana1, and a fe4an05

I personally am a Carrier dealer, but I have had an odd question raised by a customer. He entertains a lot. And I must say he has done his research. He currently has roughly 1150ft2, and a(n) energy calc states for a 2.2 ton. But he insist on me putting in a three ton. He is aware of the systems ability to turn on to half speed, and dehumidify for as long as it needs to on low speed, which is 1 1/2 tons. I've been in the buisness for 8 years, I am NATE certified. But I am stumped. I don't want to put in an oversized system for the customer, but he's saying that when he has people over he'll have an extra ton to cool with, and when that's done it'll dehumidify. Oh and I forgot to mention the customer is an old air conditioning tech. I do see his logic. But what do you think?
