Who's dealing with Raynaud's Syndrome?

Here we are in winter again, time for my annual case of frostbite via Raynaud's Syndrome.

In my case, it began in my feet 25 years or so ago. I had it for years before learning what it was. At the time, my hands weren't affected to any noticeable degree, but boy, how that has changed!

Today my feet present no problem because I use disposable foot warmers every day. (I buy them in bulk.) But my hands are another story. This morning I poured boiling water over the handle of my mug because I developed a sore on the inside of my ring finger from grasping the cold mug in the morning. That's how bad things have gotten.

I've lost fingernails every winter for the past three years (actually, the damage occurs in winter but the nails are lost in spring), and last year the sores turned into open ulcers, which is alarming as the next step could be gangrene.

I know some of you have Raynaud's. Have you discovered any tips you'd like to pass along?

Thanks!

Susan
