My email to LionBrand and their reply

As some of you know, I'd been disappointed in the yardage of some of their Fun Furs (which I love, btw), and this is the email I sent them:

First of all, let me say that your Fun Fur yarns are a delight to work

with, and the results are gorgeous!

One problem I encountered, however, is with regard to the yardage of

your various FF yarns. I'm knitting 5 scarves for Christmas for my

Mother's primary care-worker staff in her Nursing Home: an ivory, champagne,

white, black and the Sandstone. Each one turned out a different length!

I checked the bands, and found out that the yardage varies from 52 - 58

yards! It makes quite a difference in the length of the scarves! So

far, have to purchase another Sandstone, as I'm out of yarn, and it's the

shortest one, yet!

I'm wondering if yardage isn't more important to our knitting than gram

weight....why are the lengths so different? Particularly among the

plain colours?

Just an annoyance....but thought I'd ask anyway...

Thank you for a lovely yarn!

Linda

Here is their thoughtful reply:

We apologize for the experience you had with our Fun Fur yarn. We value

our customers and make every effort to provide the best product we

possibly can.

I am sorry that this happened with our Fun Fur yarn. This has not been

regular issue and we do apologize. I want to let you know we want to

find out what happened with the yardage. I ask that you send in the

labels for the yarn so we can track the problem by dye lot.

Below is the address:

Attn: Quality Control

Lion Brand Yarn Company

135 Kero Rd

Carlstadt, NJ 07072

Also, in these rare instances when customers are not satisfied with

their yarn, it is our usual practice to replace the yarn, either with the

same yarn or an equivalent dollar amount of another Lion Brand product.

Unfortunately, however we cannot match dye lots.

Thank you for writing and we regret any inconvenience this may have

caused you.

With Warm Regards,

Cindy XStocklosa

Good thing I kept those labels....I did run out today to pick up more Sandstone, and will continue that scarf so that it corresponds to the other lengths.

Just a minor nuisance, but can you imagine if you picked them up and lived out of town? And were knitting something that required the exact gram weight, bought it, then found out the lengths were different?

So...I'll send the labels...hopefully they can make adjustments or at least make those numbers big enough to actually SEE! I had to use a magnifying glass and they're on a silvery shiny part of the label to make it even harder to see!

Perhaps I'll mention that as well....some us old gals have a difficult enough time reading labels...perhaps they can make it easier for us knitters!

Anyway...just fyi...Seems like LionBrand really DOES care about its customers!! Good for them!!! ;-D
