Lion Brand sends automated replies to most comments/complaints. When you send them the unsatisfactory skein or the label, you get fresh yarn in return - I have always received about 50% more than I sent.

As for the yardage of FunFur and its many cousins . . This yarn is sold by weight - 50 or 40 grams/skein. The "additives" used (eyelashes, thicker base thread etc) adds weight to the product and may therefore reduce the yardage. A 50-gram skein of FunFetti with its little nylon "flags" and double base thread contain 46 yards of product. I am at this moment working with a skein of FunFur Print (color Rainbow) which states it has 57 yards, but weighs 40 grams. A skein of FunFur Black from my stash has 64 yards.

As for Sandstone (a Print variety, 40 grams, 57 yards), be very careful about dye lots. There is a tremendous color variation in this particular shade, and it shows up REALLY well!

I agree - take a magnifying glass when you buy any of the FunFur products!

Hello, Anne. Yes, I understand that yarns are sold by gram weight, but in all honestly...aren't we more concerned with the length of yarn we have to work with? I mean...if I'm substituting one yarn for another, gram weight means very little....I need to know the length.

I know. It's me. I guess I just expected the same yarns in the same brands, although different colours, to be the same length. I'll have to bring my magnifying glass to the yarn selections now: good heavens....trying to see those details on a band of FF these days is so trying! And to add insult to injury, they've now put that info on metallic labels!!

Well, I'll send them in anyway..who knows? Yes, I matched the Sandstone dye lot...and fyi...those trellis yarns certainly do differ in colour lots, too!! I didn't think they did until my girlfriend and I picked a few up and matched dye lots...wow! Big differences!

Yes, please mention how hard it is to see and read. I've contacted several magazines to say I'm not subscribing anymore because they have stopped using a good black font and are using light pastels for their type. Someone did a good marketing job because everyone seems to be printing like that now.

Glitter53, just like you, I believed that all skeins of same-name yarn WERE the same, weight and length. That notion has gone by the wayside!! I actually DO carry a small magnifying glass in my purse now, as age is probably taking its toll on my vision. But the labels on the LionBrand FunFur family yarns are very difficult to read, no matter what. And you are right, yardage is the most important info -

Thanks, Ladies...I did email them back and voiced a complaint about the size of printing on their labels. Sheesh! Even the "Made in Italy" is printed larger, and really...who cares?! Doesn't help me with yardage!! LOL!!
