I personally don't like any facial hair on DH except for his adorable side burns. DH doesn't look "bad" with it and he's had a goatee and full beard before (not while he was with me) but I just don't love the look on him. The in-between stuff jabs me when I kiss him. I honestly wish he'd shave everyday.

I think some men look better with and some without. My Dad looks older and odd without his goatee and mustache.

In the 33 years we've been together I've only seen him for brief periods without the beard & mustache. Much prefer the hair over razor stubble. He'd have to shave twice a day to keep it at bay.

My DH recently began shaving. I had never seen him without his short beard and mustache. But he's 62 and the only hair that was gray was on his face! I think he looks younger with the gray gone.

That said, it's up to him. I like him, period.

My husband had a full beard when I met him almost 30 years ago but I like him clean shaven now. When he tried to grow a goatee a year ago it was a mixture of white, red, and dark brown hair and it made him look about 10 years older.

My son has a mustache and goatee and I think it looks good. What I'm not crazy about is the scuffy look that is popular now where a man has a 2 or 3 day growth of facial hair.

I think some men look better with facial hair. My DH has always been clean shaven. I think if he had a beard now it would look odd, as the facial hair is grey but his hair on his head is still black.

My DH has a mustache and always has. He shaved it off once, and then got upset with me because it took me two days to notice that it was gone, and I admitted that he looked better with it than without! He grew a beard once, which I hated, because it was grey, red and brown and not attractive.

He hates to shave, though, and has promised to return to the beard as soon as he retires from work. He's not permitted to have a beard in his profession, thank heavens!

His hair is silver-white and has been since his forties, as is his mustache = I think they both look great!

I think you get used to what you're looking at, but kissing a man with a beard or mustache doesn't appeal to me at all! :-)

I don't like facial hair although Magmim P.I. looked pretty good.

I think a two day beard is sexy on certain men, but way too painful to touch! Generally, I dislike facial hair on most men. It has to be immaculately groomed to be good looking to me.
And, the back of the neck should be shaved. One of my pet peeves.
I hate long hair on men too.

DH is clean shaven. He's one of those rare people who, although a natural blond, has very dark black eyebrows. Odd enough. But when his beard grows in, it's a blend of blond, black and red. It's a bit disconcerting, but he never leaves the beard for long.

Oh, and I don't mind kissing him with facial hair. His facial hair is surprisingly soft after it's gotten passed the initial stubble stage.

I don't mind a mustache and beard together, but something about just a mustache doesn't do anything for me. I've never seen DH with anything more than a week's worth of stubble during hunting season.

DH was clean-shaven when I met him, and he looked good. He tried a goatee about a year in and I really liked it. He's gotten grayer and the goat is all gray, so it probably does make him look older. But I love it.

My husband in clean shaven. But, on long weekends and vacations he likes to be lazy and doesn't shave. After a day or two he starts to look like Brett Favre. After 25 years of marriage, my husband still looks like a boyish athlete (which makes me secretly hate him). The scruffy short beard is cute but it drives my teenage daughters crazy. They are always mortified when they think their Dad might be trying to do something "cool".

I'm with moonshadow on this one. I like a combination of mustache and beard or goatee, but not just a mustache. DH has a mustache and goatee, which he keeps closely shaven. He had facial hair when we met and about 5 or 6 years ago he shaved his face clean. It took me a few hours before I noticed. I like him better with facial hair and I think he looks better with it. It's the only place from the neck up he has any amount of hair LOL.

My dh had a moustache when I met him, and had it for years. Then one year we went on vacation, and he shaved it off to get a better mask fit during some scuba diving lessons, and hasn't grown it back full time, since.

However, for the past three years he has participated in his office's "Mo-vember" challenge, where the guys grow moustaches and get sponsors to raise money for prostate cancer (men's health). Dh's hair has been grey (or silver, as he prefers to call it, LOL) since he was in his thirties, but his 'stache grows in a dark reddish brown colour (much darker than his pre-silver natural hair colour).

I love him either way :)

Mine has a full beard & mustache and I really like them on him. They're both pretty white though, and do make him look older than he is...

He shaved everything off once (at my request) and I immediately regretted it. He was recovering from surgery at the time and knew he wouldn't be going anywhere, so he let me see his 'real face' -- Won't do that again! Since he felt so bad, he just looked 'feeble' -- less manly.

He's had a variety of beard & mustache configurations including a goatee (I didn't like it - he did), mustache only (we both like, but a PITA to shave the rest), and a handlebar mustache (Yuck! He's got the facial hair for it, though...)

Younger DS is no doubt going to be as hairy as his father. Even though he's only 14, he has to shave every day. I expect he'll grow a beard as soon as he's allowed to -- but I've told him not until he graduates from high school. (Don't know why -- Maybe it's his jawline? Which is truly superb --)

I like a full beard with mustache, provided that everything is kept perfectly trimmed and immaculately clean. I dislike beards that look like shaving was skipped for a couple of days. I don't like a mustache by itself either.

Me too! My hubby has a mustache and sort of a modified goatee - a bit hard to explain and a little on the unique side, but I think it looks good on him.

What I really don't care for is the pencil-thin beard that a lot of younger guys are wearing these days. Actually, I don't like anything that makes a man look like he spends more time grooming than I do. Too much manscaping is just trying too hard, if ya ask me. ;-)

Since my surgery Thursday, I've now got quite the "Brett Favre" thing goin' on!

Short hair...yuck. Used to not mind it, but now...not so much!

I'm also with AuntJen and Bumble with that. I think it's great for a guy to take care of themselves but spending lots of time infront of the mirror doesn't say manly to me. I went to cosmetology with a guy who was as straight as a stick but was fussier with his nails than I was mine. Even clean coated them.

Really there's nothing wrong with any of said things, it's just a personal preference. I don't think it's great for a women to spend gobs of time in front of the mirror over doing it either.

Interesting posts. I love DH's goatee, and his mustache is not at all prickly, it's quite smooth, as is his goatee. I really don't like a full beard, and I really don't like just a beard.

I kind of like the soul patch thing...on the right guy. On men with thin, angular faces it works well...think Johnny Depp. And my DD's ex used to wear that really thin beard thing, but on him it was oddly attractive. He did a lot of the manscaping, which was out of character with his bass fishing side, but he was also a very exotic looking fellow and the close cut hair, precise facial hair thing worked well for him.

I guess it depends on the fellows face shape. DH has a round face, so the goatee/mustache combo slims it and adds definition.
