Does anyone have E-lux fridge drawers?
Comments (3)Very new, and E'lux doesn't have a very good track record with refridgeration to begin with. I'd stay far away unless you like being an early adopter and can just shrug of the purchase cost and treat it as a disposable appliance after 2 years....See MoreDoes anyone have warming drawer under their scoop drawer?
Comments (7)I reported a repair & had the service technician come out to check out the warming drawer. His explanation after verifying the temperature is correct is that the drawer is UL certified (Underwriter's Laboratory) & pretty much operating as designed -- not a direct quote. I told him that my assessment of the situation is that this is a design problem. KA has a great idea to add additional capabilities to the warming drawer (slow cooking -- works great, I can do multiple dishes simultaneously), but the drawer is commonly being insulated when placed under a single or double oven. KA does not design for serious cooks (for example, they design a maximum size 30" warming drawer so it will fit nicely under the oven stack). Serious cooks want & need their warming drawers more accessible. Thus I installed under my 36 inch KA cooktop (& scoop drawer). With the gaps left between the drawer & the spice pullouts I had the cabinet maker create filler panels on the island beside the drawer. I asked the technician to report my concerns. In the meantime I sent an email to KA & their net was working-as-designed, move the utencils (I have to use an oven mit with the metal handled utencils in the drawer after using the slow cooker function.) I have noticed a blog & I will attempt to get there over the next few weeks to see what response I get. Additionally, DH had some water heater insulation we placed on top of the warming drawer. Although it reduced the temperature a few degrees, I could still not hold my metal-handled utencils with my bare hand. The KD is asking the cabinet guy if a panel can be built above the warming drawer. If anyone else uses this feature on the KA Warming Drawer I'm interested in your experience....See MoreDoes anyone have the Miele paneled warming drawer - ESW 6380 FB?
Comments (11)schicksal, thanks for your help. You're right, our KD checked with her installers (different from the installer we're using) and they confirmed that the drawer front is supposed to have a routed space on the back of the panel, and that's what the metal lip fits into. Our KD missed that it's supposed to have a routed space and thus didn't specify that to the cabinet maker, and looking over the Miele specifications, I can't really blame her. The dotted line above is supposed to be the routed passage. That's rather vague, and I'm not sure how one would know that without having dealt with such a drawer before. Miele should really make that clearer. xedos, I'm not sure why you're assuming that we're working with inexperienced, scatter brained imbeciles. The cabinet was designed and fabricated correctly. The drawer panel is exactly the correct size as specified by Miele, minus the routed passage as I just explained. You are correct in that the metal backer is installed onto the drawer front in the wrong spot, but given the installation instructions provided by Miele, and the fact that the drawer wasn't routed, there's no other way the installer could have installed the drawer front. Thus he realized the problem, contacted our KD, she contacted her installers, and now it's resolved. While I would love for everyone to be perfect and never make mistakes, and would certainly love to be perfect myself, I understand that mistakes happen. It's how people and companies deal with and resolve those mistakes that differentiates the good from the bad....See MoreDoes anyone have a fold away ironing board drawer?
Comments (3)I too used to have a wall built in ironing board and loved it. In our new home I went with the drawer style similar to what you are showing. I like it for the convenience for just an item or two, but do not love it for larger items and more than a couple of pieces. Plugging the iron in on the back wall of the counter is not an issue at all and my counter is almost 40 inches deep...See Morepersnicketydesign
