Warming drawer under an induction cooktop
Comments (9)Tusseydreamer, Of course you can put a warming drawer underneath an induction cooktop. In terms of the brands Miele vs. Electrolux you should be good with either. I imagine that the Miele cooktop will come in at a higher price, but I believe this model might have less clearance needed when putting other appliances below it (I think Miele comes in at 4 inches). Just to be safe, I'd double check the specs on both units. It sounds like you enjoy "getting down" with your appliances. I'm certainly not trying to talk you out of the Elux Speed Oven, but the thermador as a new steam oven that's really sick. Steam settings, convection, and steam plus convection. Obviously this unit differs from a speed oven in that it doesn't combine both microwave and convection at the same time, but it might be a cool addition to your kitchen. Both Bosch and Kitchenaid make really good dishwashers. I tend to lean more towards Bosch simply because of an internal water heater as opposed to a heating element found in a kitchenaid. Although having said that, I think that the Kitchenaid KUDE70FXSS has an internal heater instead of a heating element. The frig you selected is really cool. I believe it has a LCD touch screen, buttons are cool! :) Here is a link that might be useful: Want to laugh and learn about appliances? Comments (0)The Bosch is under $1,000 and has by far the most interior space (2.6 cf). 5 cooking modes, timer, and "vents", which i assume are for humidity control. Curious if anyone has purchased one of these recently, or heard anything about them...See MoreDoes anyone use their wall oven as a warming drawer?
Comments (6)It can certainly work, but.... - An oven will use much more electricity to heat its large cavity than that needed for a smaller warming drawer. Then, during summer, you'll also use more air conditioning to keep your kitchen and house cool from all the heat generated by the oven. - This puts one oven out of use for cooking. - A warming drawer is much less expensive than an oven. We currently have a gas oven in our range, electric wall oven, MW/Fastbake and a warming drawer. A few times per year we don't have enough ovens for a meal we are making. In the overall scheme of things a warming drawer is somewhat inexpensive to keep an oven free for cooking/baking. OTOH, We've frequently cooked ourselves and enjoyed many excellent meals prepared by others in kitchens with a single gas oven and no warming drawer or MW. It all depends on what you want to be able to prepare and how much shuffling around you can tolerate....See MoreHardwood flooring under range with baking/warming drawer???
Comments (1)I had this arrangement in the beach cottage with no problems. No range regardless of features is going to ruin the floor it stands on. That said, in my current reno I have put wood look tile under the fridge run because of the water line, and plan to do the same under the sink run. You can do the same if you have concerns, but again, any range you buy will have heat shielding everywhere it ought to....See Moremaks_2000
