HD KD's and business practices

We wrapped up our kitchen cabinet design, paid (in theory), and submitted our order in time to get HD's current discount on American Woodmark cabinets. The HD KD noted that we had three days to make changes.

Not exactly.

Now that changes need to be made (partly due to the KD messing a few things up and their "measuring" expert wanting a few changes), they are reluctant to "cancel" this order and submit the corrected one.

American Woodmark is fine with a re-submission, and notes to just reference the previous order to still receive their glazing discounts - they say it happens all the time.

HD wants to include all the stuff I now don't need and then "return" it.

The problem with that is (besides being dishonest) is that it seems shady, likely involves me doing grunt labor and probably getting stuck with "restocking fees" down the road.

Has anyone else had this runaround process at HD for a cabinet order, and if so, did you then run away? I ask because my three-day walk away period ends tomorrow.
