IMHO I think Americans esp from what I see in Southern California are horrible dresses!! People dress way to casual for funerals, going to church, weddings and fancy dinner places. Makes me grumpy when I dress right or what I think is right and everyone else looks like they have their cleaning the yard clothing on.

My DD and her family go to the St Regis in Dana Point alot for a very pricy brunch on Sundays (75 a person). Her BF called for the dress code they said California nice casual/AKA anything goes! He is from the midwest, it disappointed him that people went dressed so casual.

It really does make me gag when I go out and think do these folks have no mirrors~~~they all need to go on WhatNot To Wear!!

I don't mind seeing teens in them. At least they're covered up.

When I see grown-ups out wearing them it does look stupid to me. So do yoga pants and most capris for that matter. But then so did sweats and those wild print beach pants they used to wear.

Im sick of those....and sick of seeing peoples butt cracks and belly buttons too...

When my Daughter was in High School the girls were wearing Men's Boxer Underwear as shorts!

I put my Jammies on at 6:00 PM and wear them until 10:00 AM next morning. I'm in the country and I check my mail in Jammies, but I'd never go into town in my Jammies. My Jammies are heavy cotton and modest.

I have seen lots of college age students in them. I couldn't believe it when I first saw someone. I said to my DH, "I guess they were running late this morning." And it is both men and women. I also have seen both wearing SLIPPERS out in public. What is the world coming to?

Yes, I've seen the the house slippers with PJ bottoms, outdoors, in public. I thought it was just here in Southern Calif. I must be old 'cause I can't imagine going out like that. Looks very comfortable, though.

Yeah, those flannel bottoms are in fashion now. I agree, at least they're covered up. Mostly girls I see in them. I did see some kids in jammies at the store, but I figured mom had to get them somewhere and didn't have time to dress them! One little boy even had his stuffed doggie with him. Brought back memories of when my kids were little.

No, maybe you haven't seen what I have. The cute ones that are out are fine. I'm not talking about the nice looking 'bottoms' that girls are wearing.

I'm talking about going out to breakfast with my husband at a moderately nice place and seeing someone come in in their old, old (did I say 'old'?) tattered, worn, thin, holey flannel pj's. Not cute, not new, not in good repair (not even decent, in one woman's case) The kind that you know should be in the rag bag, but you just want to get one more night out of them before you throw them away? and it hasn't been just once or twice I've seen folks out in this sort of thing. It's getting to be an epidemic.

Actually, I think the nice pj bottoms are cute and practical--lots don't even look like PJ's. But that's not what I'm talking about.

I haven't noticed it around here, yet, of course we're always last down here to catch on to the fads.
I shiver to think of when I was in high school the skirts were so short that with just a little bending, one could see everything. I guess when we went up the steps to go to the second story for our classes, the guys must have gotten an eyefull. This was in the late sixties. We weren't even allowed to wear pants to school, but we could wear those short skirts.

Lauren wears a pair to school sometimes. They're actually a pair that belong to Alex but he didn't want them so he gave them to her. At first I protested but then decided it wasn't that big a deal. They aren't tight fitting and they cover her up. Better than her wearing a lot of other things that girls her age are wearing nowadays.

Well Azalea there will always be those that go out looking like pigs (sorry real pigs) in whatever the fashion is. When I referred to wearing sweats in public I wasn't talking about those cute jogging outfits either.

When we lived in NH I would run to the grocery store in my sweats with my winter coat over them. Would never go out like that in the summer though.
We had a man apply for a job in a pair of sweats and workboots. Yes he got the job, and was put out that sweats were not allowed but shorts were OK.
I live in shorts and capris but won't go to the store in shorts.

The timing of this post is so weird. I ran to town yesterday (drove, actually) and saw three people in two different stores wearing what I thought was pyjamas. I was shocked.

Heavy sweats, with a coat, in the winter, I can understand. I couldn't wear them myself, but I can understand. Pyjamas? Never.

I haven't seen older people wearing these, just the younger college age type people. I don't think they look that bad if they do not have holes. My college age daughter does not ever wear these in public (at least not to class.) But she says she does wear these around campus when not in class. I guess I can understand that since technically it is her home - so to speak - since she lives on campus. I haven't noticed a lot of people wearing them when they shouldn't though. I'm just glad that the butt crack showing seems to be going out. That's what I think is disgusting!

Well I must be in the minority. I started wearing flannel pj pants out in public when I was in college, did it for meals, classes and running errands. Now days I do the same when I am running quick errands. With 3 little ones under the age of 4 getting fully dressed doesn't always happen. I do wear my pj's everywhere, except when we go out to eat or to games at school. All I can say about them is at least it isn't the low rise jeans where you can see their underwear:)
