As always, Annie, reading your busy weekend plans makes me feel like I need a nap! LOL

Have been working on getting the gardens cleaned up. This weather has been phenomenal!

Started the new job, so far mostly just a lot of training, but next week I should be able to roll up my sleeves and really dig in. I don't see that this job will be as chellenging as my other one, but hey...they can give me hours!

Tim works all weekend, so I'll be on my own. Hoping to come up with a plan of attack to get control of the mole population that has taken over my yard. Seriously...they're EVERYWHERE!

It's been cold here too, with lows in the mid 50s and then only mid 60s during the day. I've had the heat turned off for some time, and yesterday morning it was 66° in the house when I woke up, and so I turned it back on.

We recycled our apple tree prunings - I wonder if I should have saved them for the barbeque. Of course it's been too cold to barbeque lately, but tomorrow it's supposed to be back to more normal temps.

This afternoon we will be having two baby showers. One is for Ian and his girlfriend, who are unmarried, and the other is for a lesbian couple who are married and made a withdrawal from a sperm bank. Spouses will not be present.

I planted all my seeds some time ago, but some won't come up until it warms up. I thought I would try growing cactus from seeds.

Beautiful down here in FL--mid 70's. So far, 3 loads of laundry (amazing how it builds when I'm in the garden!), removal of 1 palm that didn't make it through the winter and replaced it with a hibiscus. Also tamped stones/dirt under a sidewalk. We built a retaining wall around the area and I had to do that before I got busy planting the new flower bed formed by the wall. Sweaty time here! Think I'll hit the shower.

Dinner will be light because of a substantial lunch at a lovely local restaurant. I'm going to look for a pork roast for tomorrow--probably have a small one in the freezer. Sounds good, Annie!

Great gardening weather here....but I have chores and errands...Chabby is at the beauty parlor, I have a funeral this afternoon....but don't have to fix a meal...
Tomorrow afternoon is my grand son's high school musical....a friend wants to get together that night....think that means I supply the wine, the glass and she drinks...but hell, I'm a good listener....
Maybe I can get into the garden on sunday....

It's shaping up to be a reasonably busy weekend here. It kicked off this morning with a coffee date with an old friend from elementary school. She now lives in Tahoe, but happens to be in town for a family event. What a kick it was reminiscing with her! Working today and shopping for work tomorrow. Sunday I'm in charge of a 40 person reception here at the school. In between errands, seeing my parents, hopefully the grands and doing some more clean-out around the house. We are planning some serious major redecorating, beginning with new carpet, but I've got to "edit" the carp out before I pack it up! Hopefully a fun night with friends tomorrow, but not sure what it will be. I'll clink with a Perrier later on! TGIF to all!

Absolutely nothing happening here this weekend...nada! Clive's putzin' in his new garage and I'm hookin' and cookin'

What a power house couple we are! LOL

Nothing too much going on here except that we have had high winds for the last few days, and the islands are still in orange alert.
All the petals have blown off my roses and the garden is full of leaves. No use sweeping them up until the winds are over.

The whole of North European air space is now closed due to the massive volcanic eruption in Iceland. I will have to ask how Netla is faring, although the news says that the capital Reykjavik is calm. Spanish news shows Madrid and other main airports full of people sleeping everywhere because their flights to the rest of Europe are cancelled since planes can't fly through the volcanic dust which is spreading further south. Many people stranded here in Tenerife as well as they can't fly back to the United Kingdom.

I had Pilates this morning and it was a good workout. Phew....I can feel it in my knees this afternoon!

I'm getting used to our new rescue cat, and she's learning to get around our house and garden.

We were downtown today as we had things to do there so we ended up eating out again. Weather is warm but windy so we sat indoors at the restaurant.

Garden and Chicken Coop weekend. I have to make room for the 30 baby chicks currently in my spare room. They're getting their wings and I don't want them flying out of their box!

Finally warming up here. Mid 60s today, but was 33 this morning! Brrr...

It is raining and has been since yesterday. My yard is on the Extension Service landscape tour on the 27th. and I need to be outside working real bad, but all I can do is watch it rain.
DS and DDIL are leaving tomorro so we will have 3 and 5 yr. old grandsons until late Tuesday. That should keep us busy and hope I can get in some yardwork in between.

TGIF everyone! It was gorgeous today... nearly 70 and sunny. The last of the snow is finally off the garden, so we spent today tilling and planting peas. DH spent most of the afternoon working on the poor ancient tiller, but he got enough done for me to get peas, snap peas and snow peas in. If it doesn't rain and the tiller's running, I'll get some greens and onions in after work tomorrow. Otherwise I'll spend the afternoon cleaning out freezers to make room for the piggy we're getting next month.

Sunday is supposed to be nice so we'll get as much outside cleanup done as we can. Then I'm thinking the first margaritas of the season might be in order.

Happy Friday, everyone! It has been a very long day for me, been on my feet since 7 this morning. I have just finished dinner and now sitting down in front of my computer.

I did quite a bit of Chinese cooking today. Made some Char Siu Bao (Chinese BBQ pork steamed buns) and while I didn't have a big enough bamboo steamer I baked the last two buns. The filling in the last two was Lap Cheung (Chinese sausage). I knew the steamed buns would be tasty. But I was surprised to realize how good the baked buns turn out! :-) Today is little man's early dismissal day so he came home for lunch. He was thrilled to see the steamed and baked buns. Amazing how a little body like that could eat 4 buns all together! :-O

For dinner, I made Lap Cheung & tofu in oyster sauce with chopped vegetables. I served it over steamed rice and was very well received.

Another birthday weekend here. DS is turning the big 40.....and is five months along with her second. OY! I'm grilling steaks over at her place tomorrow evening. She thinks it is just family coming over but we have a few surprises in store for her...LOL!

Other than that not much going on here. I really should dust now that the pollen storm is over with.... I've had the windows open a lot the last couple of weeks so things are a little dusty. Maybe a cleaning service would be a good idea?

I really don't know about this weekend. I'm not working as for some reason we can't get material. At some point that will put me back to working every day without a break.

A rough week and a rough day. Back hurt Tuesday and Wednesday I spent most of the day in bed. Out of pain pills I headed for the doctor this morning only to find he was not in today. No doctors available at the hospital unless I wanted to go to the ER. Not up for the ER I went home and lay in bed until it was time for work. Something moved as I got up for work and after a few loud cracks I seem to be on the road to "normal" again. Not my best day at work but I survived.

I was on a winning team in the pool league last Sunday. Probably go out and play again. Just an informal social game so we draw new partners each week. Been a great way to meet new people. I've not been very happy recently and the bar is not letting me pay for my drinks. Mostly I take a guess at what I should pay and leave some money.

Cats peed on my dirty laundry and the house stinks. Be doing laundry sometime. A cold night so far... just wrapped up in a long sweater with one of my stinky cats.
