I love your outlook ("Fortunately, the dough stayed in the bowl so at least I'll have dinner.") I've heard that people have had success with silplat mats under the KA.

I couldn't help but laugh at the title of the thread! But I am truly sorry about your floor. With a new floor, hopefully the wood will rebound some & the dent won't be so bad in a couple of months. Take it that the KA survived it's swan dive?

I sure know what you're talking about, though. My KA gets spastic doing the dough dance, too. Sometimes I get impatient & want to run off for a couple of minutes to do something else but I'm afraid to leave it on the counter. Have been tempted to set it on the floor but then I look down at the 86#'s of double drooling Labrador. Nah, better not....

If it's a real hard wood floor... Terry towel and a steam iron will get a good portion of the dent out... Now if it's laminated, I don't think I'd try it... In any event I'd try the hot iron in a place that won't show first.

Thanks for commiserating with me everyone! I'll have to put my KA in some sort of outpatient therapy (I can't bear to be away from it for very long). It should know I love it, I don't know why it would want to end it all. :P

I've got a leftover chunk of flooring that we dented with a 3 lb sledgehammer to try to simulate the ding in my floor. It wasn't quite as deep, but it'll do as a test. Scary, huh? I tried 5 or 6 10 second steamings on that last night and can't decide if I like the fractured wood look or the gigantic dent look. I also wanted to see if the finish would be screwed up by the steaming after it dried out, so we'll look at it again tonight after work.

Well....if that's the only dent your floor ever gets....then it's a lucky floor!
Those are the things that give a floor personality! simply think of it as a dueling scar...more a a badge of honor than a blemish!

I agree, if that's the worst your floor sees, it's lucky, LOL.

My KitchenAid hasn't done that, but my Zojirushi bread machine has "walked" off the counter to the point where only the plug was holding it back. I've learned to put it in the corner so if it "walks", it just bumps into the refrigerator and doesn't fall on the floor!
