Furnace and Heat Pump Estimate

Curious as to whether or not this is a good estimate. We live in south central Nebraska we were given this estimate by a reputable dealer. This estimate is the top of the line for them.

Carrier Infinity System

96% efficient gas furnace

100,000 BTU input

variable speed blower

3 stage gas valve

Programmable control

PVC vent connection

Concentric vent

Gas connection

Connection to existing ductwork

All Labor

Total Investment $5030.00

If we add a Carrier 3 Ton Heat Pump

16 Seer

2 Stage Compressor

R410a refrigerant

New refrigeration lines

Pad and Feet (the pad we could use our existing pad and maybe cut some cost)

This would be a total investment of 10,666.00

We would also see a $1500 tax credit and receive rebates from our gas and electric companies for $900.

We have questions about whether or not we should need the variable speed system. We are using our existing ductwork as our home is very old and access to the ductwork is not easily accessible. The ductwork is 6 inch coming off the system that is the reason they gave us a variable speed estimate. Says it will work best with that ductwork. We also received two other estimates for different carrier systems that go down in price and efficiency and that do not have variable speed.
