Need opinions on old farmhouse pine floor -- tung oil or paint?

I'll start by saying that this floor has uneven areas between boards (floor is straight), but it's rough cut pine that was covered up by carpet. So I don't think it would do well with stain and poly because of the unevenness.

I was set in the fact of using several coats of Real Milk Paint tung oil to harden the wood and get a darker look. But today the orbital has been eating sanding discs like no other. I'm trying to finish up with a hand held orbital sander. So overall, I don't mind the look....it is a 100 yr old house after all.

But how perfectly sanded does the floor have to be to get the tung oil to sink in? Or would I be better off go with a black porch paint (which was my backup plan). Plan C was to simply carpet it, which I want to avoid.
