Put it into a steamer over boiling water....and if it's still frozen when you plop it into the pot, give it maybe 15 minutes in a pot with a lis in s coloncer set over bloiling water.
Then cut down the shell the length of the lag with kitchen scissors ( I trust you don't have a "sea sheller") lift the meat out and dip it into melted butter!
and then wish you had bought more! 2 snow crab legs are hardly enough for a taste for one person.

The easiest would be to just steam them (and it doesn't take long) and serve with melted butter & spice (garlic or Old Bay) but with a 6 yr. old I don't know if they would want the spice.

It will be interesting. I know there will be a lot of ew's and I don't want that. I am also making chicken to "quiet" these ones up. My daughter doesn't ask for much and I bet after this she won't ask for anything again. ha ha Yep, that's confidence for ya.

Someone on this forum posted this and I copied and pasted it into my recipe folder. I'm sorry I didnt save the name of who posted it but here goes:

The easiest (and tastiest way) I have found to cook king crab legs is put them frozen in a 9x13 cake pan, cover with foil, bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for thirty minutes. That's it!! They are hot, tender and ready for butter at that point.

I know you said Snow Crabs, so I'd cook them a little less time. Maybe 15 mins or so.

I've also stuck them in a big bowl in the microwave for 3 minutes or so, depending on how many you have. Also good. I love crab legs.

shaun I have also done them in the microwave with good results (some bad depending upon the size). I wrapped them in wet papertowels and cooked for a couple of minutes.

The thing you have to be careful about with cooking/steaming is not cooking too long or they become very "rubbery" and dry.

I steam them. It's quick, it's easy and clean up is a whiz.

MMMMMMMM...I can taste 'em now, all dripping with butter! Love crab legs!

I steam them too, but I'd try the oven baked method. In fact, I will next time.

I love 'em, just plain and dunked into melted butter. No spices or flavorings needed. Ashley uses a nut cracker to open the shells, but I use the kitchen shears.

Wow, that was quite the science experiment. There was a lot of examining, twisting, bending going on at dinner tonight. I still don't get the crab thing but the kids seemed to like it. Looks like I will be making them again. I think I will buy them from a seafood market instead of the local superstore next time.

I can't imagine not loving crab! Perhaps what you had was "over the hill" Or maybe over cooked to rubber...but steamed snow crab or King crab...or about anyother kind is just the best sweetest of any seafood.

I love crab! Dungeness is my favorite, but snow crab is good too. Have to have it every couple of weeks..or whenever it comes on sale, since I'm far inland. A tip someone gave me years and years ago never fails...bring a BIG pot of water to a hard boil. Dump the frozen crab in..and when it comes to a boil again, not a minute later, take the crab out. The crab is already cooked, so you only have to get it hot. Every person I've talked to who tried steaming it got crab jerky..not very appetizing. The boiling water keeps it from getting dried out.

Then you have the messy fun of getting it out of the shell and dunking it in whatever you like..and slurping the mess off of your chin and cheeks. Heaven!
