10-100K You have to do a lot more homework than that to narrow the guesses down. 10K would be on the low end for both with no decorative details done at all in the tile. Plain white tile baths and cheap engineered glued to slab. 100K would be multiple nice porcelain or natural stones done with listellos and decos and/or something other than a basic pattern and a good quality engineered or solid hard wood floor in an exotic with a premium finish. Probably no carpet anywhere. But if there is carpet, a decent but not super high end wool.

livewireoak is 100% correct...engineered hardwood is real wood, and if your floor is being installed over a slab, you have to go with engineered as solid wood is too unstable. Flooringbro is also 100% correct in stating that a floor is only as good as the installation. We paid a lot of money to upgrade to an 5" wide engineered natural maple floor installed on a slab in our newly contructed home. The floor is beautiful, but just weeks after the install, planks starting coming up all over the place. The problem was that the subfloor was not made level prior to installation. So whatever you choose, please make sure you have good installers who properly prepare the subfloor. Our expensive upgraded floor is an excellent example of that. Good luck to you.

Just need to clear up a few ?s. Two coats of stain? Or two coats of urethane on top of the stain? Just two coats of stain holds absolutely no protection from traffic. On the assumption that it does have some urethane applied the next question is does he plan to do another coat or is the floor finished? Ill go out on a limb and say its finished with the fact that youre moving things in already. In new home construction you get a lot of guys doing finishing touches and wrapping things up on their end. In result you get a lot of surface stratches. This is why i insist on waiting until the very end of the project to apply that last coat. Youre floor is going to scratch regardless if applied correctly or not. Inproper application of finish wont be more suseptable to scratches. If your floor was completely finished and if these scratches truely are just surface scratches and dont penetrate the stain then another coat of urethane will solve this issue. Just check the recommend cure time for whatever finish is used. A fully cured finish is stronger than one that is not yet cured 100%

A wide plank (anything 5" or wider is considered "wide plank) has plenty of requirements. If you are looking at a nail down floor, you will need to work with glue assist. This drives the cost of installation up. I'm a little confused about the $15/sf installed quote. Is that for a 7" wide SITE FINISHED engineered hardwood? Or is that for a factory finished plank? If it is the cost for the SITE FINISHED than I'm concerned with such a low price. Ya. I said low. These beautiful, wide plank site finished engineered hardwood floors should have a purchase price around $15. Cost of install/finishing would then be added to that price. They are MAGNIFICENT. They are the best of the best (especially the US or Canada Made products). Please explain the TYPE of install (nail down, floating, etc) your type of SUBFLOOR and whether or not your quote was for factory finished or site finished. Oh. And your location would also help. What is cheap for one area could be top of the market in another region.
