Mother in Law passed yesterday

Hubby's Mom passed yesterday afternoon. Heart failure / strangulation caused by the cancer.

Thank you everyone for your prayers/support/etc.

I haven't been keeping up but please let me express my condolences to you and your DH. May she be at peace at last.

Oh, I am so sorry. I hope you are taking comfort in the fact that you and DH did every single thing you could have possibly done for her. You were selfless with your time and deeply caring.

Bless your hearts for being who you are. Give your DH a giant Garden Web hug from us and let him know we are so sorry he lost his mother. May she rest in peace. (((hugs)))

Thank you all for your kind thoughts! Our modem on the computer wasn't working on Tuesday night. It started out fine but completely died around 8:00 p.m. I tried rebooting the computer and turning the DSL box off and on. Nothing worked. When I looked at the computer settings, the modem wasn't being recognized so I figured it croaked. I watched TV the rest of the night and sulked. The computer worked just fine for Bob later Tuesday night after I went to bed. On Wednesday, it worked just fine too. I was finally able to look at my Facebook page and saw a post from my brother with a link to the eulogy he wrote for Mary's memorial on Tuesday night! I totally missed her memorial/wake! I was so hurt that no one told me about it. Then I checked my cell phone and called my voicemail. My sister left a message on Monday telling me about the wake. I never saw anything on my cell phone saying I had a message. I am convinced that Mary was haunting me on Tuesday night and made the modem on my computer stop working. I think she was telling me she was a little upset that I didn't make her memorial and wasn't able to say my formal good-bye. I feel so hurt and upset that no one made sure I knew when it was! I check my email and Facebook every day so they could have contacted me that way. I feel so awful that I am embarrassed to go to Mary's daughter's wedding in a couple of weeks. They will think I'm an awful person for missing her memorial. I don't have any of their phone numbers or email addresses. *sigh* As if her death wasn't bad enough. At least I know she cares enough to haunt me.

Aww, thanks, you guys! Jean, unruly is the word! LOL I guess it tends towards being a cottage garden in most parts. Some beds have more of a planned look but the main ones don't. Okra, that is my front yard! We live in the country so there's no one to complain about not having a traditional green lawn. Dh doesn't mind - less grass to cut! I do it around the beds while he does the open areas with the riding tractor. This is the back, taken a month ago: I just have a foundation bed there because of the septic field. The white gardens are on the west side of the house (which faces kind of southwest). I'll take more pictures as things progress. Thanks again!

aren't relatives strange? i just came home from my husbands aunts funeral. this elderly couple came to visit us every sunday, we attended all the family functions they had, why just because they were just nice! my husband told me when we first married that his mother didn't like her brother and his wife (this elderly couple) and that it wouldn't be a good idea to be friendly with them, well i told him i would like to be the judge of that, and so time went and we were all good friends. when Al passed away 5 months ago they were there and where was his sister, screaming at me about what kind of funeral she wanted and don't ask for any money at all for expenses, she and her sisters stood at one side of the graveside service and snubbed their noses at the funeral HE wanted. i was late getting to the funeral home today and had to stand with many others in the foyer, but there was that sister in law right there with the family (if they only knew how evil these people spoke of them, they would have been tossed out on their #####!). when i went and spoke to the family and gave my condolenance, the sister in law snook out of the funeral home, she didn't even say hi or anything. i would never let that mil come to my home, meet her in a public place, and perhaps you could have a friend come as well, also tell her that you have to leave at a specific time right from the beginning, say i have to get the trolly at 500 pm or else we'll be in trouble or something like that. get caller id, best thing a person can get. my mil passed away 15 months before Al did, she was a mean woman, my kids would receive used old things and the others would get designer things, her philosphy was they're rich and your not. on the other hand i am glad that my sil didn't speak to me, who know;s what might have come out of my mouth. As a friend said to me, they are not your relatives anymore! and it's a good thing you can choose your friends. I am sorry for your loss and know just how you feel! debbie

Thanks mav.So sorry to hear about your husband.I dont know how you do it.I cant imagine not having my husband with me.Yesterday we had to take the car to the garage to get the brakes fixed so we used my mothers car which my dad now drives.When I got into the passenger side of her car I started to cry hysterically.My hands were shaking and I was gasping for breath.I hadnt been in her car without her ever.I was having a panic attack.Luckily,we didnt have far to go so I was home in about 10 minutes.I really feel like Im falling apart.This was a huge setback for me.Im really sorry to be whining but I cant help it.I just miss her so much.I dont think I can go on for much longer.

Pbrisjar, I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope you and your family find peace and comfort with each other in the midst of the sadness.

Just from what you've written, your MIL had a strong bond of love and support from her family including you--that speaks to love and caring that should always be cherished as a fond memory of a life well lived.

Sweetie I haven't been around much with my own little trauma's and trying to cram in a year's worth of work in 3 weeks I have left to do it, so first I want to say "sorry I missed this post" and then I want to give you a hug...I'm so very sorry my dear. I hope she's in a pain free place smiling down on you, but I also know your family is suffering and I'm very sorry to hear that!

I-chic: I'd hardly call your traumas "little".

My continued thanks to everyone for their thoughts and support. The funeral service was yesterday. The church was so packed they had overflow in the fellowship hall and the patio area right outside the church. Mom was a well-loved and respected member of her family, her community and her church.

We continue to deal with her loss. While we knew that she was not going to be with us much longer, we did not expect it now. Our consolation is knowing that she is now without pain and that we have each other for love and support.
