Was Someone Looking For Me At the Flower Show?

Hello everyone!!

Apparently, someone was looking for me at the Philadelphia Flower Show this year, but I missed them. I was so bummed!! Richard (one of the co-owners) said it was a blond woman, but he didn't get a name. I'd love to know who stopped by, and I feel terrible I missed you!! I would have loved to finally meet someone from the forum in person!

I didn't make any plans to meet anyone this year after my catastrophe getting there last year and having to cancel on people last minute - I felt terrible that I had to do that so I decided to not press my luck this year and make plans to meet anyone just in case they fell thru again.

Anyway, the show was fantastic, I again enjoyed myself at the Reading Terminal Market (we're having breakfast for supper tonight so I can use the two pounds of Amish bacon I carried home in my luggage!) and since it poured Sunday, we canceled our trip out to Longwood Gardens and went to the Museum of Fine Art instead, and I got to see one of Van Gogh's Sunflower paintings in person, which gave me such a thrill I can't even tell you!! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and must say I absolutely love Philadelphia!!

If you're able and haven't checked out the show yet, you must go. It's Springtime in Paris this year and they have some lovely exhibits. My SIL's booth, The Seed Source, won the blue ribbon, which they deserved as the booth is just beautiful. Have all my seeds now and am dreaming of the veggies to come this season!!!

Next year's show theme is Hawaii!! Can't wait!

I thinik it was Alexa....Calliloo who was looking for you. She went to the show and she's blond.

IT WAS ME!!!!!!

I took a shot and asked at the seed booth... I think the people I asked thought I was some sort of lunatic stalker LOLOLOL! Needless to say, I told them how we "knew" each other and I don;t think that helped my cause much LOLOL!

But yes, they said you had left that morning, I am so sorry I missed you!

Next year for sure :-)

I grow this annual flower. It is called 'Balsam' and belongs to the Impatiens family. It is very easy to grow from seeds and once you get them started, they self seed to produce more. But the interesting fact is that they tend to cross-pollinate to form new colors the next year.

Yes, it is grown here, it was very fashionable about 5 years ago. D*amned if I can remember the name, though. Age!! Looks great when at its peak but goes to seed rather rapidly. Easy enough to grow from seed.

Can you tell us where this flowerbed is? (Geographically, that is, not 'outside my back door' ;-)) First thoughts are tending towards Campanula sp. ut that could be way off.

Looks more like a Oncostele (formerly Colmanara), a cross of Miltonia, Odontoglossum and Oncidium orchids.

Dang!! I'm so sorry I missed you! It would have been great to meet face-to-face.

And yes, Richard was a little confused, but then again, it doesn't take much to confuse him sometimes lol!!! He's a bit scatter brained at times to say the least lol!!

I'm glad you stopped by the booth tho - isn't it nice? I'm so happy they won the blue ribbon because they put so much work into the show. And how did you like the show itself? I thought it was very nice.

Since I was laid off last year, I was trying to be good and not spend too much so I didn't exactly eat my way thru the market, which is my goal every year, but I had more than a few good meals there. We also ate at a couple Vietnamese places down the street from the hotel (we stayed right across the street from the convention center) so I was happy. I made the wonderful Amish bacon I bought for supper last night, and tonight I'm having home made chicken soup using the egg noodles I bought. I REALLY envy you being a local who can enjoy that market year round!!! I'm beyond jealous lol!!

Next year's theme is Hawaii and I love tropicals, so it should be neat! Hopefully I'll be back to work before then and I'll have some money to spend too lol!!
