My new cast iron grill pan -- so unsure

I bought an Emeril cast iron grill pan. Supposedly pre-seasoned. Directions say to wash with a brush and small amount of soap, put in a 300 deg oven to dry then coat with veg oil. Remove excess with paper towel. Fine, but the surface is rough, and the paper towel left lint on it which I was annoyed about.

Just for kicks, I've recoated it with shortening and put it in a 400 degree oven for an hour (read that on MotherEarth).

Researching this site and others -- there are hundreds of ways to season cast iron. My head is spinning after reading all of them. Wondering if I am going to regret this purchase.

I really wanted to grill chicken breast in it tonight. I am wonder if it is going to stick like crazy and I am going to hate this pan.

I point of confusion for me is do I store it lightly oiled or not? Veg oil or Crisco? Some sites say that any oil will go rancid and to store it dry.

Lastly, will I ever be able to grill anything in it with a marinade on it such as terriyaki pork chops? Or will that be a sticking nightmare.
