Eggs in ice cream

I'm so excited about my new ice cream maker compliments of loves2cook4six. My first batch of vanilla came out great! I got a couple of books from the library for more recipes and looking through one of them last night, the vast majority of them called for eggs but with no cooking. You just mix the eggs in with the cream and other ingredients, then pour into the ice cream maker to freeze.

Is that OK? I mean, I do admit that I eat raw cookie dough with the raw egg in there but for some reason I'm skittish about making raw egg ice cream.
