'Fruit' for Baby Shower- It's Winter! ! Ideas?

My SIL's aunts are throwing a baby shower for DD on Sunday. They are serving traditional meat lasagna, garlic bread & salad. It will be an early dinner - around 3pm. Someone is bringing a purchased sheet cake for dessert. Light snacks - crackers, cheese, chips & dips will be served before the meal.

About 20 people (men & women) are expected. When I called to ask what I could bring they said no one had offered to bring "fruit." I'm stumped on 2 counts. First is that here in NH there is not a lot of good fruit available in early March, save citrus, which I don't see going well with the lasagna menu. I've prepared a number of fruit platters for brunches & such where I've had slices of pineapple, canteloupe and seasonal berries with a yogurt-based sauce served on the side. This doesn't seem like a good option, even if I could find decent berries.

Should I provide something that is more desserty as an option for people who don't want cake for dessert? Or offer a healthier fruit option as an appetizer for people who want to skip chips/dips?

I think their intention was to give me an easy job by saying "Bring fruit," but given the season & the menu, I just can't think what to bring.
