Hi Nancy, We have Wilsonart beveled edge in our living room and square edge in the bedrooms. We really like the look of the beveled edge and it is no harder to keep clean than the square edge. We are very happy with laminate flooring.

He only carries these and one line of natural Hickory cabinets because he generally markets to budget minded customers. His "slogan" is the most cabinets for the least price. Anyway, when he did his reasearch he dedided, I guess, that these were the best value. I know one or two other people here have used the brand, as have several people I work with. They do not have the lifetime waranty that many larger companies give. They are 5/8" plywood boxes, if you care about that. I bought the hype about about it initially but honestly now figure, my last cabinets were pressed wood, I guess, boxes. They were here when I bought the house but they held up fine. JSI cabinets are available on ebay if you want to install yourself and feel confident in doing all kitchen planning yourself. Otherwise you could contact JSI to see they have a retailer near you. I would definately order the cabinets already assembled. As you might have seen others here have had huge problems with ready to assemble cabinets that were not well done and did not go together well, and I wouldn't want to spend the money and then not have them be square or put together well or properly. The guy who installed my kitchen orders them assembled, and I am sure he would not if it was worth his while to put them together and they went together easily. Also, while the basic cabinets are inexpensive, add ons I did like a glass door, solid maple turn posts, wide molding and addional rope trim, and Rev-a-shelf pull outs, to mention a few, added a lot to the price both for materials and finish labor. While they have some nice options, the number of options are very limited. That is one way they keep the price down. So make sure they have what you need before they start. They may come out with one, but when I ordered mine, for example, they did not offer appliance garages. Hope that helps. Sue

You are talking about the inside edge of the rails/stiles on the doors, right? I had thought that I would choose plain square ones until I realized that the inset-panel doors that are original to this house have a sort of ogee edge on the insides of the rails and stiles. And it is true that dust and gunk does not seem to collect much there, because the edge isn't horizontal. But I haven't decided if a similar ogee would make the rails/stiles look too wide on a relatively narrow cabinet door. I am a long way from needing to decide, but I rather like the idea of a beveled inside edge instead. At least for my house. I'd love to see pictures of all these styles in real life if anyone has them.

Lavanya,,,where builders make their money is in all of the upgrades. they charge you an arm and leg for something that you could get later yourself, for 1/2 the price. For instance, I don't know what you're paying for the kitchen countertops. (or how big a space it is). but you could go w/a standard laminate, no upgrade cost, and after moving in, have someone else come out and do your quartz. Ditto flooring. have the cheapest floating laminate done, no upgrade charge, and then hire someone else to get the flooring you want. Flooring is one of those things that you will be living with a long time. you shouldn't have settle or pick something you really don't want, just because you can't 'afford their upgrades'. Get the basic, move in, and hire someone else to do it. wire brushed is just how it sounds.wire brushing across the surface along the grain. gives it more of a grainy appearance. hand scraped is supposed to mimic the 'hand scraping' of the wood,,,giving it a rustic, uneven, hand made look to the wood.
