I am glad you guys liked the pics. Wendy, I didn't really have to do anything to the butterfly. As soon as this plant flowered, they were just all over it. Even when I got up close they didn't move. The flowers are kind of small and the foliage is big and tall. Probably 6 feet tall. Bug, you are too good on the plant ID:) I didn't know a cynara was an artichoke, but now that you mention it, it sure looks like one. I got the green pot at Lowe's. It was marked down to 8.99, so I got two. Deanne, my mondarda does eventually get mildewy, but I can't help it, I really like it, and it likes my yard. Plus the hummingbirds come every year, and I don't have to fill up my hummingbird feeder.. which I ususally don't get to. D.

Oops, sorry I've been a little preoccupied! Belated B-day wishes to Dr. Renee (25?). I hope that Eric took you out somewhere nice. You deserve it! Next year let's get together and have a big night out for the four of us. Our Anniversary is the 17th (today). We could celebrate both. See ya Saturday...and make Eric come this time!!!

Well, alrighty then, as long as I don't have to take a sobriety test, I'm home-free. Dinner was wonderful! We met out friends at the restaurant. The maitre'd was in California but made sure that I had my favorite white wine immediately, paid as a gift. Yippie! Dinner was greatly enhanced by the company of such close friends. We all shared an appetizer of hot avocado egg roll followed by tonight's house salad of greens with blue cheese, pears, and pecans. Dh and I ate the rib-eye steaks with massed po's. Bob had grilled tuna and DF Anais, had seared scallops. Happily, birthday cake was ordered in advance, because I was feeling loopy from the wine by the time dessert came. Wonderful birthday! I am tired but so very happy! Everyone has been so thoughtful both in person and here on the CF. Fortune shines upon me for sure. R

Well now! Aren't you all terrific to remember me! Wow!
I've been having a great day, thanks!
Arthur is well, thanks for asking, and the family is growing. Our youngest daughter is pregnant with her third. All 8 of the grands are such fun.

Thank you all very much!

Love,
Bubbe (Renée)

Thanks all!

A little birdie told me that I was lost but not forgotten so I checked in and here you all were, just where I left you.

We started celebrating my birthday in CT on Thursday and spent Sunday with the kiddies where DSIL made a super brunch while DD nursed her nausea. Poor thing.

She is something, that daughter of ours. For 4 1/2 years, she has been pregnant or nursing and now it will be another 2 + years before she owns her own body again. That is, if they stop at 3.

The grands are ages 16+ down to 2 years. The twins will be 5 in August. That's hard to believe.

Anyway, I am doing my usual stuff: I am back on the DOROT board after a two year leave. I had foot surgery in October so I was slowed down for quite a while and have PT twice a week. I've been knitting a lot once more. Cooking has taken a back seat to other stuff but I do crank out a meal a few times a week.

I will be checking in from time to time.
Thanks for the greetings.

Bubbe, I was about to ask where you'd been, until I read the part about the 8 grandchildren, and another one on the way.
Congratulations are in order for the ninth grandchild!

...Now, let us all bow our heads and have a moment of silence for Bubbe's sanity...

Of course I'm kidding. I know you relish every minute spent with your babies. But, please don't bust a move, or do any other silly stunts, until your foot is completely healed - no matter how much the grandchildren beg.

Best Wishes for a Very Happy Birthday, Bubbe!
