Hello all, I'd like to introduce myself a little and more about what I do and maybe get some conversations going to fill up these boring winter nights. I first started Garden Web back in 2011 in the cacti and succulent garden, then moved to winter sowing but my real love has always been and always will be perennials. I have quite a few but I'm sure many of you have quite a few more. I've been gardening since 1990 and started working at my dream come true a Nursery/Landscaping company. I later was hired to start up and run two different greenhouses. After having a physical set back for a few years, I slowly started working in peoples perennial beds again. I started winter sowing as a way to propagate many perennials and have them all live. I also grow annuals as well and some tomatoes. I do this mostly for the fun of it and give a lot away. I also take some of my plants to the to farmer's markets. I also live on a corner and before I started driving again recently I sold my wares on the street corner. But this isn't a success story as much as it is a love story. I love what I'm doing and will give it away to anyone who shows an interest. I know very little compared to some of you, and am here to learn and have fun. I love sharing pictures too. I couldn't leave my first note without sharing some of my flower favorites. My favorites are Delphiniums because they are the Princesses' of the garden, Echinacea's, mostly the shorter ones, and it seems like I've grown found of Biennials this year. Unless you're a garden nut, people don't seem to keep biennials going. I've started several seeds from seed already this year... I already seeded 2 Perennial Delphiniums (one of the Delphs was Carmine red, awesome huh?) and 2 Larkspurs. I recently bought about 10 more different seeds to winter sow. I Love the color peach and ordered Digitalis Apricot Beauty , Agastache Apache Sunset ((which is one of my least favorite plants), but since it's in combination color of peach, orange and rose... I think it will be interesting, Begonia Illumination Apricot Shades, Geraniums Maverick Coral and a huge pack of Accent Premium Salmon Impatiens and just 15 Impatiens Divine orange seeds. I ordered two different peach double Hollyhock seeds; Salmon Queen and Spring Celebrities Apricot Mix. The 2nd I will only get TEN SEEDS CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? AND I PROBABLY PAID THE MOST FOR IT, LOL, THAT'S CRAZY! Does anyone know how pretty these are? The color is very two-toned and bloom is double and frilled. And just 15 divine orange Impatiens. I've sown all my seeds from seed swaps and my first two shopping sprees. Can anyone relate? Below is a Dwarf Double Pink Hollyhock from 2 years ago. What goes good with peach? Hello Everyone, This is a HEADS UP about how we are now able to PM/private message each other WITHOUT needing to “follow” each other first! A few days ago Misty discovered they had changed their messaging system so we are now able to change our settings to enable ANYONE to PM us anytime they want to. Misty copied a screen shot of the settings which are on the “your houzz” page under “edit profile,” and then under the “advanced settings,” the same place you go to change your settings so you don’t wind up under a Landslide of Mail! Misty explained it very well on the “RMG – How do I do it” page, so I’m gonna just link that here. On the Olde RMG I would have just said to go down to the post on such-and-such a date, but with the new “hours ago” system, that’s kind of hard to do!!! Right now it says “last Friday at 4:21PM,” but when that “changes over” to a date, it should say something like, February 20…at…! But it’s easy to find, ‘cause it’s the post with the settings screenshot in it!!! Misty, in the post under the screenshot post explained this, and I’m gonna explain it here too to try to get the message to as many people as possible. When you PM someone thru houzz you’ll get an email that says “you have a message.” Then you’ll need to click on the link in the email and will be taken to houzz and (I think) directly to your inbox, or if not there, go there! THAT’S where you’ll be able to read the message someone has sent you! THIS IS IMPORTANT! The ADDRESS OF THE PERSON PMing YOU WILL NOT be in the message, so when you PM somebody thru houzz you’ll need to be sure to remember to put your email address in the body of the message, or they won’t be able to reply to you! Then you’ll get all mad or hurt ‘cause they didn’t reply to you—so remember to put your address IN your message! With this feature now enabled, WE SHOULDN’T NEED TO HAVE ZACH COLLECTING EMAIL ADDRESSES ANYMORE! So, unless Zach comes and posts differently, you don’t need to send your address to him anymore—unless you want to for some reason! [If you think you might want to email him about something, sometime, the easiest way to do it would be to save his address now!] Zach, thank you again for being willing to help us try to get Our Own Private Message System going here! Glad we don’t need to do it anymore because it’ll be a whole lot easier to do it this way! If anyone is having a problem figuring the new system out, please come here and post! We’ll all do our best to help! Really glad to see folks are gradually straggling in here at the New RMG, Skybird P.S. I have unchecked that “Allow users to follow my profile” box that’s in the screenshot, so, I believe if anyone should try to “follow me,” it wouldn’t work! Just don’t want somebody to think I’m “rejecting” them if they should try to “follow” me! It’s just that I’m an antisocial—um, I don’t think that’s quite the right word—I’m an Unsocial—guess that’s not quite right either! But I think you get the point! I have chosen, big time, to “not participate” in “social” media! I said it this way to someone recently: “I liked it a lot when we (GW/RMG) were our own Peaceful Little Island in the middle of all the multi-tasking hustle and bustle of the Modern World!” And even with the new “social media format” we have now, I hope we’re able to maintain our “peaceful little island” feel here! Katlan, it's because someone of the people you have received a group email from has put the additional addresses in the "cc" (carbon copy) rather than the "bcc" (blind carbon copy) section. SO everyone on that list has a copy of your email address, and anyone whose PC is compromised will have your address harvested and then spam or worse sent back to you with that person's email address on it. This is one of my pet hates about people sending group email. Use "bcc" please, folks!

Frontier so far is pretty funny & frustrating too to me. I now have my original Verizon email which is actually older mike@gte.net forwards to mail.AOL.com which forwards to mike@hotmail.com . I did get some kind of customer access code number mailed to my Hotmail which was on the account for Verizon as contact email. I have no idea what to do with that yet. But I go to Frontier and I don't seem to have an account yet.. to pay my bill online... keeps sending me around in circles. I imagine they are kind of busy right now. I can see how they have probably messed up big time... my Verizon mail all forwarded to Hotmail... when they changed me to mail.aol.com... they quit forwarding it to Hotmail and had it all going to AOL. If I hadn't realized what happened .. I'd be missing and wondering where some very important mail was. I'd almost suspect Verizon will have their FIOS in my neighborhood in coming months and be offering FIOS packages at lesser prices than Frontier sells the services it bought from verizon. Kind of like using the money they sold me to frontier for, to string fiber to my neighborhood. Lots of this area already has been slowly getting the FIOS strung around.
