Comments (16)Piffffllle on all of you. I have to wear reading glasses now if I really want to read the fine print any more. I can't do all the tilling, hauling, spreading mulch and digging holes in the garden any more and I really don't want to. I stopped cleaning gutters and blowing leaves off the roof before I moved but I was up the ladder in a New York minute the other day when My grandson confided in me that he was afraid of heights after I had him climb up there to remove a tree limb. He finally did get the limb off, I'm sure because he didn't want to be outdone by his grandmother. I'm checking with the hospital about mixng up babies because MY grandson surely wouldn't be afraid of heights.:0) I still cook all the time if that counts for anything, and I can still chase dust bunnies with the best of them. I never used to have backaches but just spent most of last week and this weekend taking muscle relaxers and lying on the heating pad. Lord luv a duck, I feel like such a wuss compared to the rest of you. I talk to myself a lot but haven't talked to any trees lately. I did bend my bumper on some bricks but if you had to try and manuever your car out of my backyard with all those trucks parked back there you would have dented your bumper to. I don't even think that counts because Neil still doesn't know I did it, sometimes it helps when ones spouse can't see anything. The more I think about it, I do pretty darn good chasing our 4 pound ball of fluff all over this house to retrieve all the things she tries to scarf down that she isn't supposed to have, like twist ties from the bread, a nickle, broomstraws, strings, her poop, well you get the idea. I must have crawled under the sofa, bed, chairs a million times today to get the little squirt's ball for her. Shoot! now that I think about it, I'm getting around like a spring chicken and maybe I have a few good years left in these old bones. Marda, I couldn't even stand up on a skateboard so my hat's off to you. Sheila, I have that book. Suzy, I've had thin fine hair all my life so I expect to go bald any day now. Do they still make wigs? I'm going to bed now, it'll take me all night to fall asleep and tomorrow I may just try out a new skate board. Yeah right!...See MoreLeather Sofa in NYC
Comments (4)You have picked some nice sofas. I think prior to selecting your sofa you need to do some homework on sofa construction. Ask about the type of frame used is it plywood or hardwood? What type of spring is used? What type of cushions are available? It can be tricky for example Bradington Young makes a fine product but they do use a a plywood frame. I was curious about Timothy Oulton and visited their site. I could not find one mention about how their furniture is constructed. Maybe it is there but it was well hidden. For one idea go to Hancock and Moore's site and review their video on the front page where they do discuss their construction techniques. This brand could also be another option for your to consider....See MoreQuestion about quality of Bradington Young leather recliners
Comments (14)If you paid $ 7K for a B-Y sofa, someone took you to the cleaners and back again. You overpaid by double for any sofa in the line. I've been a B-Y dealer for over 30 years, and quite honestly there's a lot of bad information in the above threads. I have very few issues with B-Y, it's made in the USA and they back their product well. While its not at the level of Hancock and Moore, it's not H&M price points, either. Most people don't know this, but the single largest cost in making a leather sofa is the hide itself, and B-Y uses good leathers, same as Hancock and Moore. The second largest cost factor is the foam (not the frame as everything thinks). Here's where premium lines like H&M excel, they use the best foam and lots of it in places where B-Y skimps, the back panels, side panels, arm caps, etc. Third is the frame, B-Y is an all-plywood line, H&M is a mix of plywoods in motion pieces, and still uses solid hardwood in stationary. Finally labor, and here H&M does detail tailoring that you won't find on B-Y, not even close. Myself? I buy Hancock and Moore for my home. If you are buying leather motion furniture, the most important elements for longevity are the quality of the leather itself (should be all top-grain, no bonded, no bi-cast, no splits, no vinyl combos) and the mechanism itself. Mechs should only be either Leggett and Platt or Ultra-Mek, and both are marked with a label on the mechanism itself when you extend it. Here's what their labels look like on the mechs, the L&P label is the lower one. ....See MoreAdvice on Bradington-Young Recliners
Comments (25)Spoke to owner of store. He said he can not take the chairs back because of upholstery laws or something like that. He said he could lose his license. He said he spoke to the president of Bradington-Young and they agreed to ship the wall-hugger mechanism to me for free just to see if it would work or not. The owner of the furniture store said he wants me to be a happy customer but in the next breath says that it is a problem for him to have the chairs picked up and taken somewhere to have the mechanism changed out. It is a little to much for his guys. Then he said he would probably have to pay the freight charges to have the mechanism shipped back. I guess he is talking about the one that would be swapped out. He basically said he can't help it if Bradington-Young tweaks and changes their designs. So if we try to swap out the swivel, glider, recliner mechanism for a wall-hugger mechanism the chair will lose the ability to swivel or glide. I could live with that but the problem is no one can tell me how much lower the chair will sit. I said I didn't want to spend any more money on these chairs. He kinda got upset with me and said he got the President of BY to send one mechanism out to me for free which is more than he offered last week. The mechanism is $175 plus getting someone to switch the mechanisms out. Has anyone else encountered the upholstery law issue before?...See Moresuetx
