LOL, the other night I saw someone dressed in white stooping down in my side yard ..it was the reflection of my white kitchen trashcan in window over sink. I was bending down to put something in cabinet under sink and thus had a different view thru window. Scary for a few moments.

As to your other accomplishments, yoga is the only one I can come close to emulating. josh

Can't say I have ever waved at a tree thinking it was a neighbor, but then again it may have been a former neighbor come back to say hi!

I have seen the reflections through windows, some have scared the heck out of me.........the whole back of the house is windows so there are lots of diffent angles to view.

yeah but Georgeann,you could be standing in my driveway and I'd wonder how a birch got there. That's gross.

Just wowed my kids and grandkids by reaching Level 70 on the "World of Warcraft" computer game. And I did it mostly as solo work. Great stuff for an old female.

But getting out of bed in the mornings with this creaky, cranky back and legs, brings me back down to earth. I guess it sort of canceled things out too.

I find myself getting up earlier, not later. That's why the idea of sleeping in is so heady. I didn't sleep in today.

I don't wave to trees, but I do talk to them. Regularly. On purpose. :-)

I know the young/old/young/old phenomenon, though. Basically, I'm happy about how I'm aging, might as well be, because you don't have a lot of choice about that one. I hope I inherited my parents' genes there. My Mama was a house on fire right up to the very end. Was up walking around on her roof when she was in her seventies, 'cause the 100 year old man next door ratted on her to my Daddy. LOL.

I can imagine my bones are in good shape, as I took a fall a couple days ago and it could have shattered a young person's butt. A bit of shoulder twist, but not enough to stay in the front of my mind. Can still pass a driver's test and thread needles without glasses. And, I noticed in a storefront glass, I still bounce when I walk.

However, my once hideously thick mane of hair is much thinner now, it's almost normal, lol. It doesn't look grey until I part it to plait it and there is a sheet of white hair under there! And I don't like to bend anymore. I do it, but I don't like to. Just a sort of lazyness. My body parts are going South of the border too. I'm also more sensitive to caffeine. No more cups of coffee after a big dinner. I don't think my balance is as good as it used to be, and I do a lot of ladder work, so am much less casual about it than I used to be. I also shed my once perpetual uniform of work boots, bibs and a muscle shirt to something more demure.......oxfords or clogs, jeans or capris and a real tee, unless I am doing serious grub work.

I don't pull two or three all-nighters in a row either in my busy seasons. That's more of a choice. I turn jobs down now instead if I don't want to do them.

Piffffllle on all of you.

I can't do all the tilling, hauling, spreading mulch and digging holes in the garden any more and I really don't want to.
I stopped cleaning gutters and blowing leaves off the roof
before I moved but I was up the ladder in a New York minute
the other day when My grandson confided in me that he was afraid of heights after I had him climb up there to remove a tree limb. He finally did get the limb off, I'm sure because he didn't want to be outdone by his grandmother.
I'm checking with the hospital about mixng up babies because
MY grandson surely wouldn't be afraid of heights.:0)

I still cook all the time if that counts for anything, and I can still chase dust bunnies with the best of them.

I never used to have backaches but just spent most of last week and this weekend taking muscle relaxers and lying on the heating pad. Lord luv a duck, I feel like such a wuss
compared to the rest of you.

I talk to myself a lot but haven't talked to any trees lately. I did bend my bumper on some bricks but if you had to try and manuever your car out of my backyard with all those trucks parked back there you would have dented your bumper to. I don't even think that counts because Neil still
doesn't know I did it, sometimes it helps when ones spouse
can't see anything.

The more I think about it, I do pretty darn good chasing our
4 pound ball of fluff all over this house to retrieve all the things she tries to scarf down that she isn't supposed to have, like twist ties from the bread, a nickle, broomstraws, strings, her poop, well you get the idea.
I must have crawled under the sofa, bed, chairs a million times today to get the little squirt's ball for her.
Shoot! now that I think about it, I'm getting around like a spring chicken and maybe I have a few good years left in these old bones.

Marda, I couldn't even stand up on a skateboard so my hat's off to you.

Suzy, I've had thin fine hair all my life so I expect to go bald any day now. Do they still make wigs?

I'm going to bed now, it'll take me all night to fall asleep and tomorrow I may just try out a new skate board.

I have to wear reading glasses to read just about anything. However, my old moments have nothing to do with talking to trees. Mostly they seem to come from an inability to realize how long ago something happened. Time after time I'll think, "well that wasn't that long ago," but then I'll do the math & realize that 1978 was 30 (!!) years ago and 1986 was 22 years ago & that maybe the person I'm talking to wasn't even born then.

I also have a total inability to gauge people's age. If they're young I think they're somewhere between 22 & 25 and if they are of a certain age as the French say, I figure they're about 50.

I talk to trees every day. ; ) And I have a bumper sticker I try to live up to that says "Ever stop to think and forget to start again?"

janis, i am with you. i feel like a wuss too. i can remember my knees aching back in the 80s when i had to walk three blocks from where we parked the car to where i worked.
you and i seem much alike. i have trouble sleeping also.
i envy people like calliope and marda. i wish i could still do all the things they do. i was always very active as a kid and in my early adulthood, so i it makes me angry that i cant still do what i used to.
i dont think i will try the skateboard anytime soon tho. i have never broken a bone ( except for toes, they dont count) and dont intend to now.

I just went Googling, because I knew more than a few of who we consider the best athletes in the world were ......well..........mature. It's a statement that the body is capable of performing past croneydom, and that somebody old enough to get a pension can conceivably kick the butts of kids young enough to be their grandchildren. Some of the most astute and effective business managers I have known were just hitting their stride in their 60ieth years. Not everyone can hold their peaks at that age, but they surely can hang in there, be vital, be a contributor. Shame on the mindset who says we can't.

Marda, you just tickle me! Earned Black Belt in Taekwondo age 57 11/12ths, graduated Massage school age 57 1/6th, begin competing in forms and sparring in TKD at tournaments age 58, but sometimes I can't find my glasses that are on my face or my car keys that are in my hand!

$15 at walmart buys a substantial child-gate that will block off a door to keep a beloved furbaby in one room...
preferably a doorway that Neil does not try to negotiate by himself too often... block off the door and put fave toys there....I'd choose a room with a tile/inlay floor, rather than a carpeted one, along with a bowl of water.

Open the gate to the max and check it out stretched to be sure there are not holes large enough to allow for escape.

................and make that one aspect of your life that much less demanding.

It would not work for a cat, or a larger dog, but that's the beauty of being so small.

Shilty, I've got gates up so she can't go upstairs and in other rooms. I close off bedrooms, baths, offices.
She figured out how to open the doors between the dining room and breakfast room that leads to "Katrina's" side of the house.
She is one smart little fur baby, let me tell you.
She takes her toys back and forth with her. She plays games she has invented for her own amusement. Sometimes lining up all the toys in a row, sometime piling them in a heap with her favorite ball on the bottom so she can tunnel under and get it. She likes to put the ball on things where it will roll off and she can chase it. She puts things under chairs so I can fetch them for her.
All our floors are hardwood or tile.

especially Katrina and Neil. I'm her mom so I get to be the bad guy but she adores me anyway and it is mutual. She helps me get through the day every day. I can't imagine not having her in my life.
I figure I'm in pretty good shape to even start to keep up with her.
