Leather Recliner Question for Duane
Comments (3)I'm sorry to say that it looks like you'll have to hunt up our most helpful furniture guru on his googlegroups furniture forum. Someone must have complained to TPTB and he's been blocked again. Given the fraternal correction he posted to another retailer recently, it wouldn't surprise me if that poster was the one who cried foul. At any rate, it appears that he's too frustrated to attempt a return. Our loss....See MoreHelp: Quality Reclining Leather Sectional
Comments (6)Regarding Thomasville... They have two groups of leather construction - Leather Choices (made in China) and the Custom Leather Group (made in USA). Thomasville's 8-way hand-tied springs (a dying art only as good as the person tying) have been replace on many sofas with individual pocketed coils. Most Thomasville stores should have a sample. Flexsteel Manufacturing makes quality reclining furniture. Their blue-steel spring system has a lifetime warranty. Flexsteel also has two versions: American made and their "Latitudes" (China made) versions. The American made versions have a lifetime warranty on their frame, spring system & cushions. I speak from experience... My mother has her Flexsteel leather recliner since 1989 and it's still in fine working order and no problems. Check out the "Chicago" series. Just bought the "Chicago" recliner last year for my father's 80th birthday. The "Oslo" is great if you want to configure two recliners next to each other. Can be configured without the "home theater" look. I know many other people that own the Flexsteel reclining sets and stationary furniture. Some have had them for over 15 years with no problems. Only regret is they didn't purchase leather. Hope this info helps :-) Here is a link that might be useful: Flexsteel American-Made Reclining Sectionals...See MoreAdvice on Bradington-Young Recliners
Comments (25)Spoke to owner of store. He said he can not take the chairs back because of upholstery laws or something like that. He said he could lose his license. He said he spoke to the president of Bradington-Young and they agreed to ship the wall-hugger mechanism to me for free just to see if it would work or not. The owner of the furniture store said he wants me to be a happy customer but in the next breath says that it is a problem for him to have the chairs picked up and taken somewhere to have the mechanism changed out. It is a little to much for his guys. Then he said he would probably have to pay the freight charges to have the mechanism shipped back. I guess he is talking about the one that would be swapped out. He basically said he can't help it if Bradington-Young tweaks and changes their designs. So if we try to swap out the swivel, glider, recliner mechanism for a wall-hugger mechanism the chair will lose the ability to swivel or glide. I could live with that but the problem is no one can tell me how much lower the chair will sit. I said I didn't want to spend any more money on these chairs. He kinda got upset with me and said he got the President of BY to send one mechanism out to me for free which is more than he offered last week. The mechanism is $175 plus getting someone to switch the mechanisms out. Has anyone else encountered the upholstery law issue before?...See MoreAnother CL Chair possibility for my FR - Bradington Young?
Comments (11)A simple Google turns up the Bradington Young website. They appear to be proud of their leather furniture and offer details about the constructiona and leather grades, ect.. Clicking on their chair link shows lots of distressed leather. It seems to be their signature style. I could see that CL chair in a Western motif with the right architecture and accessories. It could look right in many styles of decor but not all. It is definately masculine in style and would look great in an urban loft condo with exposed brink and natural floors. I bet a guy would love this chair for a rec room since it certainly does not look "fussy". It looks terrible on that garage floor. Why don't these people consider the background in their photos? They should have tacked up a white sheet behind it and taken the pic. Hopefully no one else will see the beauty this chair has due to the lack of merchandising in the photo, and they will sell it for a song to you with no other offers coming in.
