Ottoman Height: Taller Than Sofa Seat = Dealbreaker?
Comments (3)Usually ottomans are about 1" lower ot the same ht. As a table set away from the sofa it wouldn't matter. Touching the sofa it may look a little out of sorts....See MoreSofa table behind reclining sofa
Comments (10)Hi, I'm not the original poster but I came here with the same issue, lol. I may go with a lower short table for part of the couch and a plant or something else to balance for the rest, like another suggested. I could do my long credenza behind it but I have to have about 8" of space between back of couch and back of sofa...deciding if it looks weird or not at the moment....See More70s mirror behind sofa. Height?
Comments (40)Love the mirror. Agree that it should hang lower - maybe about 9" above sofa. Not too low, though - you don't want anyone to bonk their head on it, especially since it's 3-dimensional! Keep in mind that in art galleries, the work is traditionally hung so that the middle of the painting is 60" up from the ground. I think you do need sconces because it's a wide wall, and the mirror looks lost and lonely, like it's floating in space. The sconces should be minimalistic though and not call attention to themselves. If you live near an Ikea, they have some great 2-light, up-down cylinder wall lights (Nymane) that have a plug in cord. I've used the white and the black versions. They're only about $15 each! And I agree - lose the switch plates and paint new ones to match the wall!...See MoreNeed help finding a console table for behind my couch
Comments (13)How do you live with no lamps in that space?! I don't even see pot lights in the ceiling. I too would want a sofa table for lamps if nothing else but where would they plug in?? Your table should be similar to the wood of the TV console or the metal of your side tables if you want the room to look cohesive. The rule is two hits of any one wood/metal in your case for tables for it not to look like a garage sale. I would not introduce something that will have to stand alone at this point. I am sure the fan is very needed for air flow but the suggested lower chandelier would also be lovely....See MoreRelated Professionals
