Surcie from Lee! - Photo included!

Today I received a large package of microfiber cleaning cloths from Lee!

She gave them to me to use on my new stove, and I already tried one of them out. She said she bought a large package of them at Costco (where I do NOT shop) and generously shared some of them with me. She also told me that I can wash them (with bleach) and reuse them. I was not familiar with this product (except for use with electronic equipment) and was very happy to receive this surprise!

Thanks so much Lee, and I look forward to seeing you again the next time you are in town. I'm thinking that DB and I might plan a trip to Colorado in the near future, to see our cousins and you as well. Actually, I feel much closer to you than I do to our cousin, even though she is a first cousin. I'm interested in meeting her son (my second cousin, or first cousin, once removed), who is now running the meat market/deli.

These can be bleached? Mine said not to use bleach on them. I don't go to Costco, but I might have to have one of my friends pick some of these up.

Yeah I wouldn't bleach them either. I have the Costco ones too.
Oh and no fabric softener...

Hi!!! Thanks Everyone : I told Mustang's not to do this, because I'm bashful but she did it anyway. Chase: I figured out the Pizzelle Baker because she picked my brain. Shelley: Where were you all these years ? They have been around longer than me and the Dinasaur's were still roaming, up here in the mountains, when I was hunting. I even had the Pizzelle Iron that you heated on the gas range,. They were made by blacksmiths Amazon sells the Bakers. David: That wasn't a Typo, You Could see Ray. Lisa: Coma si Via ? Is that right? That is a newer Model. I had the 50's Model. It bit the dust, long ago If you snap the clip on the handle I guess they would come thinner but everyone likes mine. You're right, they are like Chips. Budge I remember this from a while ago... Lars, I'd love to see you and Kevin again. As you can see from my post it took a ridiculously long time to drive to Denver and in fact I got off the expressway and drove 15 miles on city streets to SAVE time. It's all in the timing - if you drive between the cities in the middle of the day or after the evening rush, it's not bad at all. Chase, we'd love to meet you and Clive. I think it's great that you are planning another long car trip. And you would love Dlynn. I do think that meeting other CF members is on of the most fun things about the forum - I'd love to meet many more of you. Lisa you are right, that was an oops on my part. For so many years I have thought about how we don't have an Ikea or a TJs, and I was thinking that you have TJs, but no, you have an Ikea in the SLC area. Deanna, the truffles didn't keep me awake... that job was taken by the man snoring like a buzz saw on the other side of the bed. Geez, I had to shove some ear plugs in his nose and put tape over his mouth just to get some sleep. >:-) He did wake up later and catch me chowing down on the truffles. I shared, but only two of them... then I took the box back and said that was all he got! I plopped a plate of nuked chorizo sausage down in his lap and took the box of truffles with me to work. :o) Yes, Sooz, was very nice to include all the "extras" for Jasper! You're so thoughtful! I know you have requested me to post a picture of me cooking with the sherry, so I'll make something good from the recipes I get other threads and post them during bf's next visit. Small price to pay for all the goodies and kindness you've given to me. Your handrwitten note with tips on the back of the ginger mix was nice... those are good tips, and you have nice writing too! LOL :o) To be fair, Sooz coined the phrase "Booze from Sooz" in an e-mail, so I can't take credit for the cleverness there.

I love the micro fiber towels, I use them for everything!
Very nice of Lee to send some for your new stove.

But no bleach and no fabric softner, that ruins them.

Lars, I'm glad you got them so soon - I mailed them around 5:00 PM on Monday.

I'm smiling at the comments on care of the microfiber cloths and I am a strong believer of each of us doing what we are comfortable with. That said, I've used 3 or 4 brands of these cloths for years since they first came out and have always soaked them in bleach with no ill effects. The colors of the cloths stay the same. I agree that fabric softener is a bad thing. So, bleach or not Lars, dry them in the dryer and don't use fabric softener.

Lars, I really appreciate what you said and I feel very close to you and Kevin also. I hope you do come to Denver, I would love to see you here.

Beverly, the advantages of microfiber cleaning cloths are that they hold a lot of water - this means that you can wipe over a very wet surface with a wrung out damp cloth and the surface, sink, counter, stove, window, whatever will be dry and streak free. I love using them on my glass topped stove and my stainless steel sink. They are great for dusting with - dry or slightly dampened or with a dusting spray. Although they feel very soft to the touch, somehow the fabric has a lot of "tooth" to it and cleaning spots takes less effort. I have a LOT of them and they are almost always my cloth of choice for any cleaning. The only downside that I can think of is that they wick moisture out of things so quickly that if you are dusting with a dry cloth, you soon realize that your hands feel really dried out.

I hope you like them too Lars - now how about a picture of something you've cooked on your great new stove!

I have also used bleach on my micro fibers at the cafe, for disinfecting, to no ill effect that I can discern. Fabric softener is another matter

That is very thoughtful Lee and perfect for Lars' new baby.

I have used MFC for a number of years. I have at 30 or 40, which is overkill. I collect the dirty ones in a drawer in the laundry room then wash a load of nothing but MFCs on the sanitary cycle. I use vinegar but no soap with them; I will try a little bleach next time.

Last year I bought a dozen large MFCs from a commercial wholesaler. I used 6 of them to wrap my SILs Christmas presents.

Back to the gift....those are way cool! Perfect for your new stove and a bazillion other uses!

I have no idea what a "surcie" is--but I love microfiber cloths.

My stainless cooktop is 2.5 years old and I've only ever cleaned it with a damp microfiber cloth (very hot water wrung out) and dried with a dry cloth. It looks like the day I got it and I am a very messy cook! (I spilled a ladle full of clam chowder on it last night!)

so, can anyone explain what a "surcie" is--I haven't been around here all that long (since Nov).

Nancy, It's a Southern term for an unexpected gift from a friend. It got started on this forum several years ago when I mentioned to RiverRat, another GRITS (Girl Raised In The South), that I received a "surcie" knowing that she would know what I meant and she did. Like so many other gifts from friends on this forum, it caught on. :)
