Good Quality -- Why So Uncomfortable?

Hi Folks,

Facing the ugly truth, I can't afford the likes of Hancock and Moore, etc., but want to purchase a decent quality sofa.

While perusing a mid-end quality furniture store, I encountered some sofas make from a company that offers eight-way hand tied springs and poly dacron wrapped cushions, on hardwood frames. Perfect, right?

They offer a nice range of good quality fabrics. I'm not a leather person, so that's not an issue.

So, why is it, when I sit down on these sofas, that it feels like I'm sitting on cushions that don't want to "give"? Rather than doing a bit of conforming to my backside, they feel like they are resisting my weight. In some respects, i guess that's good, but it's not terribly comfortable.

Is there some sort of "breaking in" period that occurs, after which the cushions will stop fighting back? :-)

Thank you!
