heh, The Hat has taken on a life of it's own. I wondered where that thing would end up, figured in the back of a closet somewhere. Bids are up this morning, at least it's going to a good cause!

I saw him briefly on the Today show this morning...it would appear the antler hat is one of his more tame creations!
And he's a bit creative looking too.

Besides the hat, that was not a flattering color on her.

I am more intrigued by those with raccoon eyes that don't smear. How do they do that ? :-)

Speaking of eye make up and I don't mean to highjack this thread, but someone mentioned their eyeliner going south, so I thought I'd include this link. I accidentally stumbled across this little lady's video's the other day. She's young, but very talented when it comes to make up application. I learned a lot from watching her. She has someting like 279 u tube video's of tutorial's, advice, etc. Some are of her pregnancy and birth, etc. In all my years I never realized the process to getting a "professional" look when I apply my make up. Now I know, it's definitely a process. So for those of you who do wear make up, here ya go. Hope you enjoy.

Heard that Fergie had a hand in selecting the awful hats for her daughters because she was snubbed and not invited to the wedding. She/they knew the girls would be sitting behind, near the Queen for the entire wedding and in many photographs. Supposedly this was done on purpose. I say plausible.

The Disney likeness is absolutely hilarious - an AMAZING coincidence. Or was it? hmmmmmmmm.

The cartoon comparing Fergie's daughters to Cinderella's stepsisters has been altered so the color or the stepsister's dresses matches the color of Fergie's girls. I thought that was too coincidental so I looked up some images from the movie.

I remember when I watched the girls driving up to the cathedral you could see Beatrice's head was bent forward in the car. She couldn't even sit up straight in the vehicle because of the hat! Can you imagine having to ride in a car with your neck craned forward the entire way. It wasn't a long drive though so she was willing to make the sacrifice for "fashion" sake. Goes to show, good taste and money don't necessarily go hand in hand.

If they did this to get back at the royals for not inviting their mother I think it backfired on them. Given their tacky appearance it only reinforced that these women are an embarassment to the family. Makes you wonder what Fergie would have shown up in she had been invited.

Its a cartouche, not antlers, but it still belongs on the side of a building, not someone's head.

I don't think it is antlers or a cartouche - it is a big bow with curvy tails, and was shaped to match the openwork on the top of her dress or coat.

It was weird, but I like that it is raising money for charity. And honestly, it wasn't any uglier than a lot of the hats, except the color was worse.

No way did Sarah set them up to annoy the queen - I don't believe that for a second. She has already embarrassed herself enough with peddling influence to make money - she would encourage her daughters to create more embarrassment.

I just think they are young, and got bad fashion advice - but then so did Camilla the Frump and Anne, the Princess Royal.

Mom and I saw some truly awful examples of British couture in the windows of a few upscale boutiques in the Cotswolds when we were there a couple of months ago. We giggled ourselves silly at some of the dresses and hats that were on display, being unable to imagine why any woman would want to adorn herself in such a way. Not that we are fashion plates, but dressing in a combination of Outlandish and Frump does not appeal.

No? ...Okay, in any case they have distinctly different ideas about headgear than we do. Same language, different culture. Camilla's doesn't do any favors for the wedding portraits either.

I forgot the part that goes under the hat.

This was some years ago....a guy my husband knew from work brought over his photo album one day to show us pictures of his home town in Germany. I spot a boy wearing the brightest yellow pants and I point to it laughing. Whether it be boys or men in this country they just don't wear colors like that. Afterwards my husband tells me this guy wears a pair just like them to work. He hadn't been in this country long enough yet to notice noone dresses like that (off the golf course that is). I keep forgetting we are less daring then thay are and what shocks us doesn't shock them.

The sight of these crazy hats was a first for me but I haven't traveled outside the US in decades nor do I follow fashion so what do you expect. Are they wearing stuff like this to Ascot too? What about the Kentucky Derby? I don't recall seeing outlandish hats when I've watched the Derby on TV. Do you think this means women will start wearing that silliness here now that they've seen the Brits going for it?

I thought about you today. ;) In a waiting room, the latest issue of People was sitting there so I looked through it. Cover story was an article on Pippa. Then there was a separate single page article devoted to hats. What is worn in Britain and now by American women. They were quite funky for the most part. There was a picture of Kate Gosselin (sp?) wearing a sombrero sized number rimmed in feathers. Looks like the early stages of a trend starting.

Hats have always been part of the landscape of the Kentucky Derby. Google it and you will see some of the most 'interesting' hats you can imagine, including replicas of the building at Churchill Downs, and horse heads. The British would be awestruck!

The Hat has reached the $30,000 mark and auction doesn't end till Sunday, so there's still the last minute bids to come. wowza! (Good news for the charity, tho.)

You have got to be kidding me! $30,000!! How much did this hat cost to begin with? When the auction ends on Sunday will someone report back to us? I'd love to know what it ended up selling for...and to whom (if that person comes forward). Will it be one of you? Who among us is ready to cash in their IRA's to buy this hat? :)
