No-taste canned butternut squash?

With a bumper crop of butternut squash this year, we cellared some [painting stem and blossom end with beeswax], froze some, and canned some in a pressure cooker. The first two methods have turned out well, but when we tried the canned squash last night and it was pretty poor. No taste of squash at all, just the cinnamon and a little brown sugar that we added after opening the jar.

Has anyone had better luck with canning butternut? How about with other types of winter squash?
