Oh I can do that! Being totally decadent once every four years is easy to forgive yourself for!

I'll do Kiev or Cordon Bleu, probably twice baked potatoes with lots of sour cream. Maybe a chocolate pate for dessert. Might start with a Stilton and cream soup, or maybe French onion with lots of cheese......

I bought butter when butter wasn't cool. :) And I regularly use heavy cream, with no apologies.

Eggs? I use 'em by the dozen!

Cheese? Omigosh, there's more cheese per square inch in my refrigerator than any other single thing..... Never a meal served without it.

Lots of red meat? You betcha!

So, why don't any of us have health issues? Well, some of it is genetic, of course, but I think a lot has to do with the fact that I only served my crew dessert once a week. Consequently, they don't 'crave' dessert after every meal.

And I only put bread on the table once or twice a week. So they can skip that, too.

And I concentrated on wonderful, super-fresh vegetable dishes....so that's what they learned to love. Give them a choice between squash and chocolate pie, and two out of three will go with squash.

But I have this fab recipe for chocolate pie...... :)

Right now I have more pounds of cheese then normal..But there is a veggie bin stuffed full!
I'm about to pop a potato au gratin in the oven..
layers of russets, good sharp cheddar, med cheddar, Penzey's Toasted Onion powder, kosher flake salt, fresh turned black pepper..oh and nitrate free browned turkey bacon..then the whole lot has heavy cream and 1/2 n 1/2 poured over it..
It will be served along side a small simply seasoned pork sirloin roast. And whatever veggies I pull out of the fridge..Probably steamed broccoli.
Berries will follow for dessert.

I could get with this idea! I think I'll make cheesecake tomorrow...what a great excuse. Sadly, this is the first I realized that this is leap year, which I hate as February has gone on too long IMO already.

Here we are doing breakfast foods instead of lunch. I am going to making those DIRT BOMBS. I might even be nice to my family and make chocolate covered strawberries, thanks to Nancy's picture.

Lets keep it going and see what everyone else can up with.

The menu for my gluttonous Leap Day meal changed slightly. We started off with grilled bacon wrapped scallops - no picture because I was lazy and got them in the frozen section. I stuck with Chicken Kiev, but rather than bloom the onions I threw them in a pie (with plenty of eggs, butter, cheese...!) Not much color on the plate, but I couldn't think of any colorful-yet-unhealthy side to go with the meal other than creamed spinach, which DW isn't a huge fan of. To stick with the golden brown theme, the cocktail was CC and Ginger.

Unfortunately I never had a chance to make a cheesecake, so Sol's trusty MLC was the decadent dessert. With vanilla ice cream and White Russians. Our seconds got dowsed with whipped cream.

Food coma came on quite quickly!

Well dammit -- why did I only see this thread after the fact?? I'm trying to remember anything gluttonous yesterday.

Oh I had an egg salad sandwich for lunch. Cholesterol heaven. Still, not what I would have eaten if I'd been prepared. To counteract it, I had oatmeal with raisins for dinner.

In the hospital where I work, they play a lullaby whenever a new baby is born. I heard it a few times yesterday and thought -- well, you have to wait another four years for a birthday party!
