Tip:

As popular as the WFD thread is, though, it seems if we shortened it, we would end up with soooo many WFD threads???

I think everyone around here actually loves to help out and if you're looking for something specific, we'd all be more than willing to oblige?

Or is it a specific thing that you saw and are looking for again?

Here's a good one from Debbie:

Here's a local favorite. Chicken Riggies, they're on just about every Italian restaurant menu in my hometown Utica, NY. It's a quick, easy meal.
Chicken Riggies - Debbie
1 stick butter, melted
1 onion minced
3 cloves garlic, minced
20 oz. jar of sweet peppers (sliced with seeds removed)
3 sliced hot cherry peppers (packed in jar with oil)
Saute above ingredients.
Add:
1 cup parmigiano cheese
2 lbs. boneless chicken breast, cubed
1 can chicken broth
1 can tomato sauce (15 oz)
Cook for 1 hour. Pour over 1 1/2 boxes of cooked Rigatoni pasta. Serve with fresh Italian bread.

I agree completely pink mama. I don't read the What's for dinner threads or the Friday thread either so I miss out on a lot of recipes.

I use the the control -F like Gina said, makes looking through the WFD's much easier!

You can always post a thread asking for chicken and pasta recipes, you'll get lots of help!

I know we've tried in the past to post recipes over on the RE. I know, I am guilty of not doing this. I don't even go to the RE that much. It's a "time" thing. The more places, I visit, the more time I spend.

I wonder if we put a RECIPE thread on the CF for dishes shared on the WFD thread or other threads that people may be interested in?

Sorry, just trying to work through this and help out, as I understand the frustration...

Pink mama brings up a good point. I don't go through the WFDs as often as I'd like unless they've come up in the searches but everyone is so great about posting recipes for someone asking. It's always helpful when the subject is mentioned in the Subject line. What I really would like to see is longer time span of posts. Some forums are years old and CF disappears in a few months. I still don't understand how some old posts can be retrieved, don't know how that works.

Ann started a recipe thread under FAQ's but it seems no one is using it. Maybe we should posting under there?

Marigene, as I have mentioned before, I will be more than happy to post recipes on the FAQ as long as the original poster makes the request.

Thanks Carol. I added two of your recipes. The famous lemon custard cakes and the Peppercorn shortbread that I loved so much. I had forgot all about that recipe. I need to make it again one of these days.

This was Cookie of the Month in Martha Stewart Living.

PEPPERCORN SHORTBREAD

1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) unsalted butter, softened, plus more for pan
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon white peppercorns, coarsely ground
3/4 teaspoon black peppercorns, coarsely ground
3/4 teaspoon pink peppercorns, coarsely ground
3/4 teaspoon green peppercorns, coarsely ground
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
Preheat oven to 300°, with rack in center. Lightly butter a 10-inch springform pan, and set aside.
Stir together flour, salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of each ground peppercorn; set aside. Put butter and confectioners' sugar into the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, and mix on medium speed until fluffy, about 2 minutes, scraping down sides of bowl as needed. Reduce speed to low. Gradually add flour mixture, and mix until combined.
Using a small offset spatula, spread dough evenly into prepared pan, smoothing top. Bake until shortbread is golden brown, about 1 hour 20 minutes.
Transfer pan to a wire rack. Immediately sprinkle with granulated sugar and reserved 1/4 teaspoon of each ground peppercorn. Remove springform; let shortbread cool completely. Cut into wedges.

I'm with you pink, I've had the same experience, and I've never taken the time to wade through the WFD threads so I'm probably missing a lot of good recipes too. I didn't know about that search option, gina, thanks

if you know the name of the recipe (or something close) or the poster, you can always google it, too, and just add gardenweb to the search. Google doesn't bring up all the hundreds of WFD!

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I spent quite a lot of time yesterday searching for "canarybird roasted vegateables" pictured in the last WFD but came up with more WFD threads, did the Ctrl-F and never did find the recipe. It looks soooo good. If anyone can tell me the recipe or a better way to search for it, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

The easiest way to find a recipe is just ask. I don't think that there is anyone on this forum that won't be happy to post the recipe for you. Even it if is one that has been posted 100 times before.

Natesgramma, I don't think that Sharon actually uses a recipe.

Sharon often makes roasted vegetables and I think that she wings it depending on what she has available.

But here is some directions I found in a earlier post for her roasted vegetables.

Potatoes or yams...scrub with vegetable brush, and leaving skins on slice in half and put on tin foil-lined roaster tray with halved onion, peppers, cauliflower, garlic cloves, any other veggies that roast well. Drizzle with olive oil and fresh thyme. Roast in oven 20 - 30 minutes. If you cut them in small pieces, they roast in shorter time.
That's all the veggies done and only the tray to rinse after you throw away the tin foil.
I use my small counter top oven for doing veggies that way.

I'm with Ann on this one, just ask for the recipe. That's what I LOVE about this forum, you are not directed to a list of recipes.......keeps things alive and the different directions and input keep this place moving and rockin'. We all know how posts can go off topic and I like it. WFD is one of my favorites with the recipes and pics know matter how many times they might be repeated.

I love the control-F thing for researching swap partners and recipes Terri. It was new to me too until a couple of years ago.....I'm high tech challenged...LOL!

Stir fried vegetables with Chicken and Alfredo Sauce goes good on Spaghetti.
Just had some!!! I do Chicken in Spaghetti Sauce on Pasta.
Of course, there are meat balls and Sausage too but they go for the Chicken.

Then there is Chicken and Roasted Peppers, Alilo e Olio on Spaghetti.

The WFD threads will always come up in a search simply because posters name a dish or ingredient, not because there is necessarily a recipe within the thread for it. I guess it can be frustrating if one expects to find a recipe within the WFD thread, but IMO that thread is one of the things that makes this forum a community. That thread's been a tradition for at least five years and a source of much enjoyment. To dramatically change it would make this just another rote Q&A site. And that would be really sad.

Ann -- this thought occurred to me just as I hit send on my other response...maybe one of the FAQs to add to that section is an explanation of what the WFD thread is for people new to CF? Maybe that would help someone trying to do a search understand why they are getting all those numbered threads in their search results.

The WFD thread is one of the MAIN reasons why I was drawn to this board. Thanks for the tip on searching and THANK YOU all for saying that you don't have a problem with people asking for help for a recipe/tip even if it has been posted 1,000's of times. That is another reason why I like this board! Old threads can lead to new ideas, pictures, etc. - makes for great communication and friendship.

Hearty thanks to every single person who so willingly expressed their opinion to my question. I am grateful and appreciative, and have learned even more about using these threads (thank you gina w).

Once again I will be spending two weeks with my beloved granddaughter, who is unable to cook, and her family - including four great-granddaughters. I will be cooking every day, and always try hard to find simple yet different entrees that they all might enjoy.

Although I have never made a chicken/pasta dish, it sounded as if it would be filling as well as yummy, and that caused my search. I have been helped before by willing-to-share and knowledgable forum participants who have supplied great dishes, and so I thank you all once again.
