My Super Bowl party contribution

Going to a Super Bowl party tomorrow and all the big ticket food items were already taken-chili, ribs, crawfish etouffe, the velveeta sausage dip, cookies, and a football cake. Finally decided to make something fun-Oreo Truffle pops.

I think that must be the most popular recipe ever put out by Kraft!!

Is there a reason you put them on sticks and didn't leave them plain?

Honestly, I decorated them and made them into pops so they would stand out amongst all the other desserts. Plus, I love the idea of Oreo lollipops. Like I said, fun :)

I made delicious crockpot meatballs at one of our Christmas gatherings. I used two large bags of frozen meatballs (I did one turkey, one beef). Two cans of cranberry sauce (the gelatin style one), and an equal amount of your favorite bbq sauce. 4-5 hours on low in the crockpot. Delicious!

My first thought when I hear "steamer" is some kind of Chinese dumpling as well! Probably because that's what I use mine for mostly! A good "cheat" for them is to just cook up some ground beef or turkey (I don't eat pork, but the traditional methods use ground pork) flavored with minced garlic & ginger, some sliced scallions and chopped water chestnuts, some soy sauce, sesame oil, maybe a touch of five spice powder - whatever flavors you like - then get a package of those refrigerator biscuits. The regular one's not the huge "grand" ones. Flatten out the biscuit, put a tablespoon or so of your mixture in the middle then bring up all the sides around and pinch it at the top to kind of seal the dough, then steam them. They're more filling than using a traditional dim sum wrapper, but not everyone has access to those. I think the biscuits are a "cheat" that works very well. Have fun at your party! Lisa

Do you have an overhead cab plan with measurements? It's impossible to say whether you have adequate aisles, whether you can go with a larger island, etc, without knowing what your clearances are. Do you really need that much refrigerator/freezer space? You wrote that you entertain often so perhaps you do, but they do dominate that wall. Really assess your needs and see if you can shrink them to give you more counter for your beverage center, which looks chopped up with the bar sink in the middle. Also, if you intend this to be used when you entertain, you may be better off with the fridge/freezer columns closest to the cook top wall and moving the bar sink and beverage center towards the (assuming, can't read the above image very well) family room. One last thought for now: I'd get rid of the walls at each end of the fridge run. You'd gain 9" more to use (assuming standard 4.5" thick walls) for counter and storage. And if you move the beverage center to the left end, it will no longer be hemmed in by a wall. If your team continues to lose year after year to the Patriots in the run up to the Superbowl then you tend to not be that enthusiastic about them. That does not mean that you "hate" them. Just because you dis them and are not a fan does not mean you hate them. That's sports. I root for my alma mater in college sports and might trash talk other teams but I really don't care enough to hate them, and my indifference to a team could turn to love depending on how the game goes. I tend to like teams that have some kind of Cinderella story behind them and I also have certain teams that I know people affiliated with so I like them. Indifference, boredom or lack of rooting for a team does not equal hate. You can admire and respect the talents of a team but still wish your team had beat them!

What a great idea! Is this the oreo/creamcheese recipe? I've also done this with prepared cheesecake. Mush it around into a ball, insert a stick and then freeze. When firm dip in white and dark chocolate. Nobody ever expects a cheesecake lollipop!

Thanks everyone! Yes, these are the Oreo/cream cheese truffles. It was actually a toss-up between these and cheesecake pops. I actually polled my friends and the Oreo truffles won. Definitely making the cheesecake pops next time since I love cheesecake.

Thanks Tamara. Everyone seemed to like them, including me (this was the first time I'd made them). The guys especially kept going back but then again, they were the easiest thing to grab off the table :) Anyways, if you need an easy dessert, I'd definitely recommend them. Next time I'm going to try and make them with Trader Joe's Joe Joes, preferably the chocolate chocolate ones. Can you tell I love chocolate?
