Free Safe Deosit Box!

It takes so long to get a large box, that when I finally got one it did not occur to me that I really didn't need such a large one.

But this past year I decided to ask about a smaller box and finally last week I was told that some were available. With our Gold Card our present box was discounted, but we were still paying $138.00 for the year.

Going down a size, we use the $150.00 discount which means the box is free!

Has anyone else discovered something they were entitled too and just so happened to find out?

Hmmm....can't think of anything right now, but that sounds like a good place to be in! Glad you got your box for free...nice surprise.

The only thing similar I can think of, is when the plumber working on my bathroom remodel told me he'd do my tear-out for free. My tile guy was going to do it for $800.00! So, that was an unexpected "freebie" in my life that I really appreciated!

For the longest time (like years) I never paid attention to the points acquired on a credit card. I really don't know why. Maybe it seemed gimmicky. I do remember checking when they first launched the program, think I was eligible for a free travel alarm clock or calculator. Then I started shopping online, using only that card. Fast forward to this year. My printer & scanner are both starting to give me problems. Just discovered recently I have enough points to get some pretty nice things.
Including a highly rated wireless all-in-one printer ideal for my home office that retails for near $300. That was a nice surprise. :)

My son has chickens, 16 I believe, he has lost a few to predators, they are out of their pen during the day, but the other day he lost the pretty rooster, golden polish, he had won in a pet contest and blue ribbon at the fair. The neighbors dogs escaped their pen and they were awakened by the indoor dog barking his head off, this was 6 a.m. dog inside the pen, it was covered in that chicken mesh stuff, now covered in the heavier wire. He has cochins, a blue silkie (rooster), domineckers, white crested polish, two kinds that came from rural King that I don't know what they are, but they keep to themselves, I would get chickens too, but we have alot of dogs going through as well as all the other varmits..hope you enjoy yours as much as we have theirs.

budgetmaven, I have the exact same question. What veggies do you want to plant? I also need to hunt down as many boxes, bins, crates, and buckets as I can for my tomatoes seedlings, and so far wood supplies seem to be the easiest to nab. Speaking of wine crates, I incidentally found a wine box (big enough for ONE veggie plant, maybe) the day before yesterday. I decided on a whim to go hunting for bins/containers of any sort, and one of the very first little streets in my neighborhood that I turned onto had a bunch of wood furniture pieces out on the sidewalk. Among these were some older wood play-kitchen "appliances," just a couple feet tall, if that. One even has a little plastic tub in the top for a "sink," which I figured I could use separately for seedlings/winter sowing as well. Not only exactly what I was looking for, but pretty adorable.

Thanks Jay, He has wanted to be a Marine since he was very young. When he was in the 4th grade and had to write the story of his life, he wrote that he wanted to be a Marine when he grew up. Now THAT is sticking to the plan! LOL The first 3 weeks were the hardest for him because he wasn't allowed to use his contacts and his glasses are so strong that they had to send them off base to be made. So, all he could see was a blur when they were showing him stuff that he had to learn like hand to hand combat, etc. Betty

Ahhhh, you're going to see THe WOrld! We went there for our first and only time a year and a half ago. I also planned out the things that I really really wanted to see and do. THa'ts really important since there is NO WAY that you will be able to see and do everything in one trip...unless you're staying for a month!! I'd suggest not hopping from park to park in one day because you'll spend alot of your time either waiting for or on shuttle buses. That time is better spent within a park. Take time out to find a quiet spot and have a little rest if you're not going back to your hotel mid-day. If you buy a refillable cup, you can only use it at that particular hotel/resort....so think about where you are going to be when you need it filled. We used the one from our hotel since we are there first thing in the morning and again in the evening. If you get tired of the parks (noise and the Disney theme pounding in your head!) and you have the time...absolutely go to one of the water parks. Several people changed our minds into going to one and we were sooooo glad we did...it's a really nice getaway. If you bring that small backpack along...put your things into ziplock bags inside it...will be totally dry if you want to run through fountains etc (hey, it's Disneyworld...you can be goofy!) If you are sensitive to heat, buy one of those battery operated spray/fan/mister bottles from a vendor. They were a lifesaver for my daughter. Refill them with ice (Free) from all vendors. Wear a hat, waterproof sunscreen and sunglasses. Oh yeah, and don't forget the most important thing....TAKE ME!!!! I learned everything I neded to know from the Disney (World and Land) web sites....the people on those forums are absolutely fanatical about all things Disney and are worth their weight in gold as far as great advise goes. They'll even know all about what particular rooms to ask for at the hotel and all sorts of stuff you didn't even know existed. Be prepared to spend alot of time tough....there is soooo much info.

moon, we have a similar deal. We use one particular credit card for EVERYTHING, and we earn points from it. In the past, I have gotten a Crate & Barrel sofa for "free" using those points, and recently I got two kitchen chairs and a set of drapes from Pottery Barn, all using points. I love it!

I just received two gift cards to a fun/interesting local store that I bid on in an auction for our schools. They weren't "free" -- I pretty much donated the amount they're worth -- but, you know, they kinda/sorta were. I'm looking forward to using them to buy some "free" stuff!

Soon after my husband and I were married, I talked him into switching from his Visa to one of the newer (at the time) Discover cards. I think it was the only one, back then, that was offering cash back. I use it exclusively at the grocery store and other shopping. Fast forward a few years and we bought our last 2 TVs with the rewards. Latest model is a 50" Sony LED 1040p flat screen that we just love. That was $4,000 worth of TVs for just shopping the way I would normally shop.

I put everything on my credit card too. 'Even pay most of my other bills with it if they allow it. So far I've gotten a TV and a refrigerator. I don't know how your card works, but my Citi Card will give me more for my points if I buy gift cards from them for stores that participate in their plan than if I were to just cash out the points.
