It's Peeps season!

My favorite time of the year. Now, I like eating Peeps, but I reach my limit at one, and then I'm fine for the year. But I adore the funny websites with dioramas of Peeps in all manners of situations, or the sadistic Peeps scientific tests. Just the look of Peeps in the stores reminds me that Spring is here, or at least just around the corner, and how can that NOT put a smile on your face?

But this is the latest from Peeps, and I might just be tempted to eat more than only one this year.

I come from the hometown of Peeps actually. LONG LIVE PEEPS! Our leadership class toured the factory last year (the Just Born company is a wonderful corporate citizen BTW) and I heard there was going to be some big upcoming news in the Peeps world. I had my suspiciouns but I signed a confidentiality statement before I toured the factory so I kept my thoughts to myself, lol! Personally, I like the white marshmallow ghosts better.

I don't know those species of fern, but when it comes to general informtion I'm not surprised it can be so variable. Take Acrostichum speciosum as a example, if you gave it a big dose of fertiliser it would laugh it off. It's a mangrove fern that grows in brackish/saline water habitats. It's evolved in a high nutrient environment so copes reasonably well with chemical imputs. Other end of the scale are the rainforest epiphytes growing on tree trunks where all they get is decomposing vegetation that's well watered down by the frequent rain. They'd curl up their toes in all but the very weakest fertiliser. Generally with ferns, all you can say is to be very sparing with the fertiliser but very generous with water. Of course drainage capacity of their growing media is another story. But as a generalisation the faster draining the better whilst always maintaining dampness.

Thanks for posting the contest winners. Such creativity and imagination! I live in PeepLand because our valley is the home of Just Born Candies, creator and manufacturer of Peeps. They sponsor a PeepFest during the week between Christmas and New Year's. There is a Peep diorama contest for elementary school classes and the winning projects are on display. This was a first grade one: The PeepMobile puts in an appearance. Outdoor activities include toasting Peeps for Peep S'mores. Massive Peep sculptures: And a giant lighted Peep who descends from the building at midnight during a family-friendly New Year's Eve celebration. Sushi, I look forward to that every year, so thanks for posting it! I'm still snickering at "Areeptha Franklin", LOL. I did buy a package of each of the three "mystery" flavors this year, I'm going to let the kids decide what they are. Of the family, though, it's my 80 year old Mother who really loves Peeps. She likes them stale, though, they have to sit out for a bit so they aren't as "squishy". Annie

Peeps are cute and I never want to eat them. :-) The chocolate covered ones... well... I probably will eat the dark chocolate coating and leave the peep alone. LOL

My favorite way to eat Peeps is with dark chocolate Hershey kisses, if the Peeps are fresh. If the Peeps are stale, they're better all by themselves!

Ah... peeps. I was just checking out my peeps from last year. They're just about ready. I always save one box to eat the following year. Nice and crispy. Love it. Aged peeps. These are pink chicks. At Christmas I ate the ghosts from the Halloween the year before. Deeeelightful. LOL..
