I know, me too, and I'm furious! AND I just got an email from Paypal, made to look official, asking for my credit card numbers -no doubt they got my email from Epsilon. Someone told me this was on the news too, so must be pretty big....

Got mine from Chase yesterday. No phishing yet that I'm aware of but my both my emails are pretty good about sending stuff to the junk folder.

I've received quite a few warning emails, but only one phishing email so far. Guess I should start setting up a couple of new email accounts.

I haven't received anything. Haven't checked my spam folders though. Also, your email isn't private, but I registered with the site - kind of like with phones, snail mail, etc. where you ask to be taken off the list for junk mail.

I just received one from Stonebridge Life Ins. Co. regarding "Epsilon's breach" in security. However, the email I received asks for no reply. Seems just to be a notification of the Epsilon problem. It reads as follows:

"Epsilon Email Issue

We were recently informed by Epsilon, a marketing vendor used by Stonebridge Life Insurance Company and its affiliates to send emails, that an unauthorized third party gained access to email files of a number of Epsilon�fs clients, including our email lists. For your security, you are receiving this notice from us because Stonebridge Life Insurance Company or its affiliates has sent you information via email in the past using Epsilon as our vendor.
What information was accessed?
Your email address and first name has been accessed. No other personal information regarding you was accessed.
How does this impact you?
In all likelihood, this will not impact you. However, we recommend that you continue to be cautious of unwanted emails, emails that contain links with potential viruses or emails prompting you to provide personal or financial information. We urge you to be cautious when opening links or attachments from unknown third parties.
What is Epsilon doing about this?
Epsilon has notified us that they have identified the cause of the breach and have taken the necessary steps to prevent additional data access. Epsilon has reported this incident to the appropriate authorities for investigation.

The above email from Stonebridge made it past my McAfee and personal IP spam filters. I assume it was able to do so as there was no real phishing contained therein? I really didn't think much about opening the email since I receive both personal and business emails through my email address. I think I have been lulled into a false sense of security, relying on McAfee and my IP spam filter to catch spam.

Our IP spam filter is so diligent/effective that I have to review the daily reports with a fine tooth comb as emails that I do want to receive have gotten caught up in the IP spam filter. That said, I am fairly certain that I haven't communicated with Stonebridge Life Insurance for any reason, either through the business or personally.

I am going to create new email addresses. This time being more diligent in how I use them...one for emailing friends, one for banks and medical, one to log into forums and online stores...and a separate one just for Craigslist. ;-) If I have to shut one down at least it won't mean notifying everyone.

I dread this task. I've been using my email accounts for a decade, it's so entrenched I don't know how I'll track everyone down so I'll do doubt lose touch with some in the process.

We wouldn't have to deal with this if only people would stop responding to spam email. That enourages them to continue, plagueing all of us with their garbage. If there is no money in it they would stop! So a lot of people must be buying their products or whatever they're selling in their "cold call" emails. Who is dumb enough to answer that junk mail anyway?

I received it twice. FlyingFlower - I have numerous email addresses. When I got married, and changed my last name, I gave this new address to friends and family. My old one is now used for online accounts, shopping, etc. I then created a third account for our family bills. Sure, I could organized everything by using folders in one account, but I like the separation.

Sooo.... I got an email from Target before I saw anything on the news. It just stated what the deal was and to not give out your info, blah, blah. It had an email address listed in there you could ask questions if need be. Everything looked legit. I sent a separate email asking a question. I haven't heard anything back.

Was that a real email from Target? :/

Got a few too. The problem with changing email addresses is someone may use the ones given up. This allows information to be sent to them and may be info not wanted to be sent. Make sure you have changed all if doing this.

Plus, new emails will start getting the same. I hate this hacking stuff and am becoming more leary of the net for anything that involves my "personal" info. They can say it was only email, but if they got that it would be easy to go further. Even our SS# are available through searches. easily found by any of us.

Got an email back from a person at Target answering my question so I was correct that it was from them.

We had one from one of our CC co's and it makes me a bit suspicious. It was generic, not addressed to either of us, and we have 3 different accounts with that co, one in the business name, a joint one and DH has an individual one. Usually when we get emails from the cc co's, they have the name and the last 4 digits of the account.

I'm not sure if it was a phishing thing or not, just deleted it.

Just opened an email account, notice from my bank that the only thing divulged was email accounts, and to not open anything suspicious.
