My only idea would be to check your junk/spam folder. If
Facebook claims it sent an email to the Verizon mail server, whether or not it actually gets there
should have nothing to do with your machine. Right?

How are you checking your mail? Are you using a client such as Outlook or Thunderbird to read mail? If so, you might eliminate that variable by logging directly into Verizon's mail server.

If you are logging directly into Verizon's mail server, maybe their "Spam Detector" mistook it for spam?

"How do I view messages that Spam Detector filters?
Spam Detector immediately deletes spam messages
unless you arrange for Email & More to save the messages to a spam

Once you have chosen your Spam Detector settings, Webmail will keep those settings in place until you decide to make changes."

Thanks, Richard. Made some progress. After forgetting the issue for some days, went back w/a fresh outlook, and changed my cookie settings to "accept all". That got a dialog up (that hadn't come up previously) to where it wants a pic of an ID card for confirmation (I don't have a cell phone for confirmation). Naturally, my digital camera is acting up & can't get a pic yet, but I should eventually get that going. So looks like that was the issue.

Richard, I'm thoroughly disgusted w/farcebook. I went thru the sign-up & submitted my ID image. It said the image had a virus in it! WTH? Then I submitted another troubleshooting message, and it said there was a problem w/the submit that they were "working on". Are they kidding?

Seems they don't want anyone signing up that doesn't have a mobile phone. Maybe I need to learn how to hack a website.....

I haven't used Facebook in a couple years but they had glitches like that then too.

I just signed in, checked to see if I had given them my number(I had) and removed it. If I lose my account, that's fine. :)

Since when does facebook require an ID image? I have only belonged for 2yrs now but never had to send an image of any ID. I just went to facebook.com on my computer and signed up and wasn't required to submit that. I could be missing something here but something doesn't sound right. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Read my first post. Did you submit a cell phone number when first signing up? Even if you didn't, sign-up security may have changed since then.

Ahh I see now. My only phone number is a cell so probably never occured to me I had to use a cell number. My husband is a teacher and does not do social media and is hardly on a computer. Few years ago female student wasn't happy with their grade and created a false facebook page with in my husband's identity and it wasn't a good page either. Another teacher that does facebook saw it and alerted my husband as she knew that couldn't be him. Had to get The police involved and have facebook shut the page down and girl got a suspension. Sad thing is her mother thought it just a harmless prank. My husband has worked there 32yrs and that could have wrecked his career so close to retirement. The teachers have to be very careful of they use social media. Mary
