Farron - song? "To the Lighthouse"

or "In the Lighthouse". I just remember those words. Heard the album in the early 70's. Big, very hard, rock sound. I could sing those three words if it would help. "Light" was sung on two notes, and I think they were flats.

I've been searching and searching and have begun to think I was just too far gone in those days to even know what I was hearing.

DH just started volunteering in a historic lighthouse and I want to play the song for him. I never owned this album.

I'm pretty sure these aren't correct, but may shake loose ideas...

1) "Ride Captain Ride" by Blues Image
2) "I'm you Captain" by Grand-Funk Railroad
3) "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot
4) "Love grows where my Rosemary goes" by Edison Lighthouse.
5) "All along the Watchtower" by good-ol' Jimi Hendrix?!

None of these are what I'd call "Hard Rock", but kinda fit the era & theme...?!!?!?

I gotta tell you, this weekend was hell! We didnt say much to each other. He informed me that he was leaving on Wednesday for Ottawa for the entire week. Im ok with that. I have a very important appointment coming on the 13th of this month.. Ive been waiting 6 months to see this doctor for a serious matter pertaining to my health. Im scared to death to go alone. So me. my "dumb, wacked out self" thought that he would have offered to take me. (what the hell is wrong with me turkeytrott?) I dont believe him silversword!!! I tried to talk to him this weekend with regards to the house. He didnt respond, so I asked "are you going to leave it all up to me?" Yes he said!!! Then he reminded me that "I was the one that wanted this marriage over with" "If only I would stop with my "suspicions"" we would never have a problem! He told me that it had been "years" since hed been unfaithful to me! YEARS!!! (yet I have his phone bill proving that he called several escorts services, I also have him on TAPE calling a hooker to his room, I hear her when she comes in all the "small talk" then the rest of what that bas***d did with her) I was advised by my lawyer not to reveal any of this to him. Even though there is a thing called "no fault" divorce. It could be an ace in the hole sort-to-speak when it comes to explaining that he was playing Russian roulette with my life every time he was intimate with me. I dont know people Ive been crying my freaking eyes out all freaking morning! This is so tough!

Bon Voyage, Jim and Mrs. Jim! DH and I often sailed aboard the smaller Princess ships -- not sure any is still called "Star Princess". We did the canal twice; once was enough for me, but DH wanted to do it again. (I think the song refers to 'gone' as...no longer living. You're living it up!) We received a Wall Street Journal promotional along with our morning Tribune today -- including a brochure from Regent Cruises. About the Clarksville of the song: It has often been presumed that the song refers to Clarksville, Tennessee, which is near Fort Campbell, Kentucky, the home of the 101st Airborne Division, which was then serving in Vietnam. However, according to songwriter Bobby Hart, that was not the case. Instead, according to Hart, "We were just looking for a name that sounded good. There's a little town in northern Arizona I used to go through in the summer on the way to Oak Creek Canyon called Clarkdale. We were throwing out names, and when we got to Clarkdale, we thought Clarksville sounded even better. It must have been on an album at my boyfriend's house - not like a one-hit wonder on the radio. It would have been a group.

Some of the stuff he had I can rule out right away, like moody blues, t-rex. It was a male singer and he didn't have any type of whine or moan in his voice, his vocal sound was more like a proclamation.

There was no obvious british accent so I would rule out the kinks.

I'm thinking maybe it was a procol harem type of sound, but I've tried pretty hard to find it online and I can't.

Frankly I can only recall those three words. I thought you might know of a site or a reference that I haven't found. I think you used to be able to go to a record store and find guys who knew everything. But let's face it, those guys are really old now.

Speaking of old, don't tell dh, but I got him stones tickets for his birthday. Not sure he'll be thrilled, but between me and him it has always been a beatles vs stones battle, and now I'm going to make him prove his loyalty. (I am the happy, loving beatles fan, he is the dirty, hateful stones person.) We'll see how strong a fan he really is.

No, not the hyde park concert. That would have been a real treat.

The band Live wrote a song The Lighthouse, and the era and genre might be correct.
The Waifs, from Australia, wrote one as well, but much later.
Both of those bands are among my favorites.
I also tried googling the title and the only other artist that came up was a gospel singer.
