need some help picking out dishes please!
Comments (27)LindaC, Some of my dishes I have never used before, and most have rarely been used. One set belonged to my Grandmother and were going to be thrown away before I decided I would take them. She had many sets of dishes and everyone had already claimed their favorites before me. I got the ones with magnolias (Mississipi state flower) on them. They are pretty in a very old-fashioned sort of way. My style is very contemporary, so I never use them but I remember eating on them at my Grandmother's when I was growing up. Another set of dishes my Godfather got for me at a pawn shop. They must have been custom made for someone, but they were perfect for my family. My DH and I are both pharmacists, and my DH also has another career. This set is ivory with a gold band, and gold symbols of both of these professions are in the center of the dishes. These dishes are very unique and great for professional parties. Before I got married I had already started a "hope chest" of Lenox China, but it was not sold at the stores in the home town of my DH, so I picked out another set so that people from his side would have something to buy for us. I have the set of Lenox dishes (which happen to be the same pattern as my MIL had when she got married), and the Noritake that was sold in DH's hometown. Then a couple of years ago DH got tired of me complaining about how I wish I had some really cool square and contemporary dishes... so he bought me a set for our anniversary. But, like I said, my favorite is the inexpensive Corelle that I bought myself. I use it everyday....See MoreI need help picking out a digital photo frame
Comments (3)Actually , that's a good idea, but I was thinking she could put it in her office ( they both work in same place) and I'm sure they already have all that other stuff. They both make a lot of money. Can you even get a 19 inch LCD or plasma tv for that little?...See MoreAnyone have frieze carpet upstairs? I need your help!!
Comments (5)We installed Friese throughout our upper level as well as the stairs and love it! We've had it for 2.5 years and if you look closely you can see where we walk the most on the stairs, but it doesn't bother us because it doesn't show any dirt, feels so soft on your feet and it still looks/feels brand new. No offense but I hate Berber because it lacks all of the qualities that the Frieze has. And for years I've heard the professionals push the Berber claiming it's easier to maintain and cleans well, but I've yet to seen an installation that proves that to be true. On the other hand, we have an older cat that has gotten sick a couple of times on our Frieze and it cleaned really well. We took a tiny bit of laundry detergent watered down on a wet towel, blotted out the mess and then blotted it dry afterward and it cleaned beautifully. I would have happily installed it on the entry level as well, but we have wood flooring. Instead, I'm considering having a large piece cut & bound to use as a rug in our living room....See MoreHelp me pick out a carpet please..
Comments (13)The diamond pattern. The wood-slats one atop a wood-slats floor looks strange to me--if you have a lovely wood floor, why would you want to replicate that pattern in a rug, which is what it would look like you were doing? And the 3rd option is too bland, not IMHO worth spending extra money to have a rug hand-cut when you could probably find that online or in a store (altho I understand the problem of color-matching). You've decided on this avenue for sure? No solid-on-solid pattern, for example? Here's what I'm talking about (just the design pattern, not necessarily the color): http://www.homedecorators.com/P/Martha_Stewart_Living_Chrysanthemum_Area_Rug/810/ http://www.homedecorators.com/P/Optics_Area_Rug/420/ http://www.homedecorators.com/P/Aberdeen_Rug_I/860/...See Morelenagirl
