I'll second the suggestion for the microfiber cloth after you've vacuumed. I used one as a tack cloth after sanding, and then I couldn't pick anything up w/ a true tack cloth. I did have to beat the sawdust out of it from time to time, but it worked really well! If you were following up the vacuuming, you probably won't have the "overload" problem I did, since I used the microfiber cloth first after brushing the worst of it off. But several people have said the microfibercloth will never release all the sawdust it has accumulated, so you should toss it or it will scratch glass, stainless steel stoves, etc. Mine washed up fine, at least I *think* it did. where in the sam hill to you find a soft, wide brush attachment for a SHOP VAC?

Thanks so much, all of you! Honestly, I'm surprised at how well this turned out. The paint is Do-It-Best's Best Look brand, and the color is "Pumpkin Stem." I bought it at an independent "Do It Best" hardware store. The color is accurately named, I would say. I'd never used that brand before, but I liked it. It was thick, but went on easily. The primer is important, though. I can't say enough good things about Kilz Premium. One coat eliminates the wood grain completely. I used it previously on bead-board plywood, and was amazed at what a great surface it created for painting.

Hmm I would say first for tiles etc, but for a lay down click or slot or whatever you want to call it, floating floor, I'm told you should NOT run the flooring right under the cabinets. I was told this by my ex boss who was a moron in many regards but knew what he was talking about in this regard. Apparently you get too much movement if the cabinets sit atop this type of floor. He recommended that you lay the floor AFTER, also eliminating risk of damage to floor, naturally you have to make height allowances, but get kitchen installers to leave the kick panel off - then you have open space under cupboards. Flooring is laid up to - but allowing space around - the plastic leg things that hold kitchen cupboards up these days. Then, once floor is in place, kickboards are put in, so they run flush to the floor. They look just as good as floor will continue some distance under kickboard, but your cupboards will be sitting on a solid, stable floor, where they won't move - movement would cause problems with your splashback joints and possibly with any tiling.

Now, this is the kind of thread I love the most. You post the Before........a dusty, partially dismantled china cabinet that many of us would have walked on by in a garage sale, even if it had been marked $50. You post another photo where the piece has been repaired, restained, and glows. You even give the details of Who you got to do the job, How Much you had to pay, (a bargain!) and What got done. Then........just to really make this perfect, you post a finished room shot. The wall color sets off the dark wood of all your pieces beautifully. The white dishes look wonderful on that color and work well in this dining room. Good job on everything. And thank you for NOT starting a whole new thread as so many do without thinking it out. The people following this redo want to see how it turned out. And some of us who may have done a search, might never see the original thread. Red
