Good Morning All~

Today I'm working on the phones, wonder how long it will take me to write this post?

This weekend my husband and I are going out to celebrate our 14th anniversary (Feb 26th). Probably tomorrow night.

He is also in the process of completing the building of our home bar and I'm so excited about that. I'll post a picture when it's done for you all to see. So far it's a beauty I tell ya!

Weather here is just perfect, blue skies, sunny and cool. But that won't last long, it's supposed to warm up again.

Hope you all have a terrific weekend. I'll clink my Merlot to you all around 6pm tonight!

Goodmorning Shaun! We have new snow and a nice day here! I am off today, but going to a funeral this morning, a young mom of a boy in Chance's class. Very sad. Then errands, groceries and start cooking for tomorrow night.

Shaun, I cant WAIT to see photos of the bar. Your DH is such a talented craftsman, I'm sure it is a beauty. And definitely enjoy your Anniversary.

Sorry to hear about having to go to the funeral... it's always sad, but especially when young kids are left.

I am happily done with the carpy job from hell, so I am going to ENJOY cleaning the house and doing laundry without supervision from DH and the boys. LOL! I think we are going to lay low tonight and watch a movie or play board games. The weather is supposed to be freezing rain/snow and just not a good night to be out driving around.

Tomorrow is the Fun Fair at school - I am volunteering from 11-2 (keep positive strong thoughts for me LOL). On Sunday, a few of my girlfriends are getting together to celebrate one of their Birthdays. We are going to brunch at a local restaurant then up to wander around New Hope and Lambertville.

Diane, we are NOT getting older. Nope, we're not. 2013 sure flew, though. Lars, I'm sorry December was so difficult for you, I hope January is much better, and all of 2014. I'm sending you hugs, and some to Kevin too. Grainlady, here I have the world's best neighbor. He has a snowblower on his lawn tractor and always clears the driveway. In return I bake him bread. It's a great deal for me! Katie, beans and cornbrad sound really good, I need to get some more of those mayacoba beans, I like them a lot. Rob, you are definitely way late on the gloves. My problem is that I can't seem to do anything with gloves on, so whether it's pumping gas or shoveling hay, I end up pulling the gloves off anyway. Ellen, enjoy those grandkids. I have the Princess and Bud here for the night, so they baked cookies with Elery and we'll have Nutella Crepes for breakfast. Here I finally got garlic into the dehydrator, it was starting to sprout in the cellar. I had planned to keep some for seed garlic but since I put the house up for sale in October and my nephew was still living at the farm, I didn't know where the heck to plant it. So, all that heirloom garlic that Katie sent me is now dried garlic. (sigh) Maybe next year. Tomorrow we'll take the kids home and feed the stock and fill tanks. It was a high of 10F here today and about -3 when I went to the farm. It'll be in the single digits to below zero until the middle of next week and then warm up, but we have "dangerous wind chill" alerts going from Sunday until Tuesday. I hope the tank heater holds out... Angelaid, sometimes it's just like that. Take a deep breath, it'll be better. Stay warm, everyone. Annie

Well, TGIF night, that's for sure. My day started out at 9 am on the farm. No water, the frost free spout is officially frozen. We took a 50 gallon barrel to Amanda's and filled it. 3 times. Back to the farm where we dipped it out with 5 gallon buckets and filled the tank. OK, time to set hay. Except the tractor won't start. We spend about an hour trying to jump start the tractor, give up and wrap a chain around a big round bale of hay and drag it out to the animals. One egg that wasn't frozen, hooray. On the way home, we lost power steering in the truck, apparently a bearing froze up on the tensioner pulley and the belt broke. If it had been warmer than 7F, with wind chills of about -20, the truck might have overheated. We limped it to Dave's, where he fixed it and we came home. Right now there are blizzard conditions and white outs and the wind is about 25 MPH. Did I mention that I woke up with a sore throat? Elery made chicken soup for supper and I'm sitting here with a cup of tea and a bag of Hall's cough drops. Tomorrow we go out and see if we can chop down through the frozen ground to find the problem with the water. The valve is 5 feet under ground, so we may or may not get that fixed. If not, we'll be hauling water in barrels for a couple of months. (sigh) Clink with my cup of Irish Breakfast tea, and think about me about 9 am tomorrow, out in the storm, using a pick ax to break frozen ground. Yes indeed, we farmers just sit on our butts and wait for that government subsidy, that's what we do. Annie

I can't handle poker and I never gamble - we played bridge when I was at Rice. I suppose if it's silly poker, then I could handle it, but if it's girls' night, I would be out of luck anyway. I'd love to go with Alexa on the kitchen tour, however! Pam, I've had my garden mostly planted since February, but it's taking a while for seeds to sprout, and everything seems to be growing very slowly. It's like I'm in a time warp. Linda, I've been under the weather for the past three weeks although the symptoms are very mild now - I just have a persistent low grade fever and congestion that won't go away. I have a doctor's appointment for Friday, and I'll probably be all better before then. Sharon, I like dress shopping also, unlike my sister. If I do go shopping with her, I help her pick things out because she doesn't know what looks good on her. I became very sad this afternoon because my favorite furniture maker who has been making most of the new designs I have done lately got deported this week. He owns a fairly large shop and had several employees. I hope he can get his paperwork in order to come back. I didn't realize how emotionally attached I was with him, but I really appreciated how he understood my designs. I provided him with full-scale cardboard versions of the furniture, some of which had complicated compound curves, and he was able to reproduce what I designs with very few revisions necessary. Also, we communicated very well, and he would always call me if he had questions or needed additional dimensions. I know he was here legally until his visa or something ran out, and so I expect that he will come back, but probably not for a few months, and I have new designs that I need to get made, not to mention inventory for ones that he has already made for us. I had a different picture in my mind of a metal smith class. One of my son's and I once took a blacksmithing class together. It was fun figuring out how that was done. Yours sounds fun too. We are having a gathering of friends for the first night of Sukkot. It will start at my friend's house and move to mine. Last year, we had a theme of Jewish food from North Africa and India. My friend is vegetarian so we do it as a dairy meal and it was fun exploring different Jewish holiday foods (and not long after our cooking forum North African virtual dinner). This year we are doing Italian Jewish cuisine. We will have the appetizers at her house: Challah (which my husband is making) and wine of course. She is doing olives, artichokes and mushrooms, and caprese salad. I'm making buricche which are small filled turnovers with an Italian puff pastry - I made the pastry last night and it is waiting in the fridge. The filling will be butternut squash. Also Fagiolini Conditi, a green bean salad. At our house we will have soups and desserts (the weather has cooperated by turning cool). She is doing a vegetable one and I'm making Zuppa di Cecci. Also farro salad. And crusty bread. She is making some kind of cookie. I'm making pears with port and stilton (not Italian, but I'd picked that out for Sukkot when Sharon posted the recipe before we chose our theme and it sounds so good - and a fall fruit dessert is so Sukkot). Also amaretti (we have enough dessert but the butternut squash filling calls for some crushed amaretti and I couldn't find any at the store so I'm making a batch). And a small panforte that I brought back from Italy. Haven't spent much time planning the drinks. Wine of course. Also planning on serving hot apple cider - a last minute addition because it has turned so cold in the evenings - also doesn't quite fit the theme but I figured people would want something warm to drink.

Caliloo, Sounds like a busy weekend. Brunch and shopping with the girls sounds like fun.

No plans here other than I have a doctors appt. tomorrow morning. I am trying to think of something to do that doesn't involve the normal shopping, errands, and cleaning.

I came to the cottage yesterday, the plan was to get some cottagekeeping done but I'm not in the mood! Clive will come up this evening. No big plans but several are up so I'm sure we will be clinking somewhere this weekend.

Kim is home today, she had a bonus day coming and decided it was a good day to use it. We were planning on a little weekend get away but the whole state is on a snow advisory and we are supposed to get 4-5 inches. It's snowing right now. Sooooo....looks like we stay put, today at least. Guess we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Good Morning everyone! I've got my coffee and once my sitter gets here, it's off to the library to prepare for my exam tomorrow. I've been so busy with school, work, kids, that I haven't had time to update my blog, so I'm going to try to squeeze out some blog time this weekend.

The boys have some friends coming over to skate in the backyard afterschool today, so I have a busy afternoon ahead of me.

Happy Anniversary Shaun! Have a wonderful night out tomorrow.

Janet, that is sad. How is Chance dealing with it? That's a hard thing for a little one to come to terms with.

Alexa, you sound like you have a wonderful weekend planned. I just saw that one of my favorite spots in New Hope has closed - The Black Bass Hotel. Great brunch and I was at a wonderful wedding there once.

Well we just had a Leap Day Potluck Breakfast at the office...after much hemming and hawing it was a success. I had them wondering for days what Dirt Bombs were..tee hee..they loved them. So I clinking you guys with a coffee cup of mimosas...shhhh!

Beautiful, sunny morning here-- crispy cold-- was minus 1 when I got up at 6:30-- so I'm sitting here enjoying my cuppa' & smiling at the antics of the cardinals & bluejays out by the feeders-- their colors look so vivid against the snow.

Happy Anniversary Shaun-- can't wait to see your pictures.
Janet- so rough when there's little ones left behind.
Maggie-- curl up with a good book
Alexa-- I'll think of you tomorrow "enjoying" that Fun Fair.

Tomorrow DH's cooking chicken BBQ at the Firehouse for a benefit dinner for a CA victim-- we were invited to oldest DD's place for a day of snowmobiling & winter cookout but that's no longer enjoyable so instead I'm doing a few hrs of respite care while a friend attends a wake. Then Sunday my DDS are quote "taking me for the day" unquote , an early Birthday present; breakfast somewhere on the way to the Garden Show in Syracuse -- then dinner somewhere--- or so I have been informed. I see updated flower gardens in my future !!

Just think a whole extra day to do what ever we want to do:) I am lucky and get to clean house and do laundry yippee. A good note is that I got my swap package in the mail today so that is cool. The girls are so excited and can't wait to make some cupcakes. Me I am pooped and that good old time of the month is here and I am getting a little bit of spring fever, and going stir crazy. For once nothing planned for the weekend.But we did get back part of our tax return back......um maybe momma needs some new toys lol.

It is gorgeous here, we had a cold snap, but as Shaun said that won't last long-back to the 80's this weekend. My SIL is a Leap Year baby so we are having a birthday celebration for her tonight.

Happy Anniversary Shaun. Can I borrow your DH? Get this, I installed and wired a 32" flush mount light fixture while DH watched from below.

Janet, That is so sad for the little boy.

AM, What no work on the oven issue?

We don't have much planned - DH returns tomorrow - been gone since Monday. Will has a b'day party tomorrow afternoon. yep, that's it! maybe my dull weekend will hold some nice surprises, too - :-)

Other than that, my mother is in the hospital 3rd time in 2 weeks. I guess it's part of the illness, but she sends herself into a panic and a depression whenever all of our lives get busy at the same time and then she thinks she's dying. My inlaws were here last weekend, and my DB was busy putting in new countertops and my aunt left on vacation. So, no visits for 2 days straight and then we get the phone call that she has decided she wants to go back to the hospital...sigh. A new dr at the ER looks at xrays of her very compromised lungs and decides she has pneumonia and admits her. sigh.

So, I am off to visit. sigh.

Chase, that is sad. My best friend died at 40 and left 2 little girls. The dad did an amazing job rasising them...right down to taking them for their wedding dresses..I hope there is a family network for those kids..

I finished making the 50 breads for Declan's Christening Sunday, and made a tag in calligraphy for each one. and I have to go pick up the flowers for the centerpieces. Tomorrow I will put them together. They are expecting 100 people, and 43 of them are kids... think I should bring my whistle! or maybe earplugs! LOL

Stacy ah you have a DRAMA QUEEN on your hands. Sending you an email, if I can find it!

I'm not doing our standard Sabbath dinner with the in-laws - FIL wants to go to synagogue and say a prayer for his deceased first wife, DH's mum. We'll go out to dinner afterwards. Saturday we have a fund raiser and Sunday I'm continuing my (grueling but have to do it since they are good friends of ours) stage mangager rehearsals for our synagogue play. Sigh.

Maybe I'll cook somewhere in there...today, I'm trying to replicate DS #2's favorite breakfast - Trader JOe's rosemary olive oil bread. Yup. Using my Advantium. I figure if readinglady can use her convection micro to bake, I'll try it too - thats why I bought the Advantium.

I have the flu...need I say more??
Started with a tiny cough on Tuesday. The fever and headache started late Wed night. My doc gave me tamaflu and robitussin with codene.
I feel like carp!!
I think my resistance was just shot to hell from all the stress of the last week.
Drew is starting to feel better...only small headaches in the morning and he is eating!!

Today is Amys first day of spring break-no travel plans so she volunteered to take care of my mom today. Prob a good idea for everyone to stay away from me anyway.

Thanks for asking Stacey.

Sara did go see the neurosurgeon that did her original brain surgery and he has decided he wants to hand this over to another neuorsurgeon that specializes exclusively in AVM's. He said he really wants to be sure that, regardless of the path that needs to be taken, he wants this over for her for good. Her appointment with him is March 10th.

But.......Sara is going back to regular school in April!!! She will need lots of special help but they are keeping her in her regular class.

I have mixed feelings, she gets so much special help and support at Bloorview but she does need to be integrated back into the real world. She is thrilled!

Supposed to have Sunday off but not making any plans. Need the rest of you to party hard and correct the world work to party ratio.
