Happy Friday!!

Prob the longest week every but I made it thru!

The mother of 2 very sweet young friends got a horrible diagnosis this week...they said anywhere from a few day to 3-4 weeks.

Its breaking my heart to see these kids have to go thru this.

I've only met mom a few times. So young-so tragic!

But today I have decided to get up and out and do some holiday shopping!! I need to get a new tree....something pre-lit with led lights. Not too tall...maybe 6 1/2 ft and I'd like a slimmer tree.

Then I am going to meet up with friends for a happy hour....now I don't drink but I may have a glass of wine!!

Tonight I plan to go out again this time with the hubs. I also need a new chair in the living room. I do not want a recliner or a rocker or a swivel...just a chair!

Tomorrow is an indoor flea market here in town that I want to check out...followed by a list of local churches hosting bazaars or vendor fairs.

Sunday I will be working no doubt.

Happy Friday to you too Susie! Sounds like a great start to the weekend - friends, happy hour and shopping - that is a trifecta if I've ever heard of one. Good luck chari shopping there is a lot of carp out there in the stores.

We have a comparatively quiet weekend. We are getting together with a couple of friends for a pot luck happy hour - everyone brings an app and a bottle of wine and we all share. The kids all get along really well so they will probably be shooting baskets, playing football or generally running amuck. Add in the 2 Labs that belong to one of the guys and it becomes quite the crowd.

Tomorrow I am going to do a little garden cleanup. Not a lot to do, but I want to bring in a few sedum and hydrangea flower heads for fall/winter arrangements. I think the menfolk will be splitting and stacking some firewood. We only got 1 cord this year since we had a bit leftover from last year.

Sunday I may try mixing up some cookie dough for the freezer and finally make a fruit cake. I can't believe I haven't gotten to that yet. We have settled on a cherry pecan bourbon deal that is just fantastic.

Have a happy and safe weekend... clinking with a cup of coffee for now and something much more interesting later!

Busy, busy weekend for you, Susie!

Today is a vacation day for me! Woo hoooo! This morning I'm working on a new whole wheat bread recipe - need to get more loaves out of one mixing.

Just got an email asking me to work at a bazaar tomorrow morning for our Company Shops Market Co-op that is forming here - giving out free coffee, answering questions about the co-op....ooops, better study up!

I plan to do some quilting this weekend, but first have to clear off my cutting table so I can have room to cut.

Sunday we have a bake sale and potluck for the Co-op that I hope to go to, so will be doing more baking.

Have a good weekend everyone! Raising my glass of cranberry ginger ale to you.....clink!

Lilo, your county is more up to date than mine. We have to keep our stuff, sort it, then take it to the local recycling center, about a ten mile trip. We go about every two weeks and I'm always amazed at the amount of trash two people generate. Fortunately, almost all plastics, not only 1 and 2, but 3 thru 7, are now accepted--but not together, so that makes an extra bag of stuff. Junk mail, newspapers, magazines, and cardboard--except corrugated--can be mixed, which is helpful. Steel cans, aluminum, and glass all have their own bins at the recycle center, but we mix them in one container at home, then sort them when we get there. Again, much more information than you needed or wanted to know, but when I get going, I'm hard to stop. :>)

oh Sharon, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you...I hope the "whatever" fixes the "thingy"! Out of WINE?!?!?!?! Did I read that right??? oh Katie, snow and eggnog and decorating sounds heavenly... Tricia, it's so nice to have you back....and isn't it nice to be appreciated - hard work is right! oh Annie, the Nutcracker will be fabulous - what a wonderful time you'll have! And thank you. I had forgotten about Diane's cucciadati - man that was goooood! I think I need you all to remind me of all the great Christmas recipes right after Halloween. Duane, that's what's cool about this thread- and this forum -ya know? ...you can ramble all you want...you always know you're not alone and we're all following you...as opposed to when I ramble at home and not a soul pays attention...:-) Diane, sounds like just with your baking, you have plenty to do. I still have to do Christmas cards, too. It is bitter bitter cold here but I can't complain because we were spared the debilitating lake effect snow that they got - not too far north of here! We have a white coating - maybe 3 inches total. It's hard to say as the wind is blowing so much and lots has turned to ice. Scott just returned after being gone for a week and a half, so tonight we HAVE to take our family pic in front of the tree....always an experience - LOL. ONe year, Will and scott got into an argument (will was VERY small) as he wanted to wear the pink fuzzy slippers that I bought him (because he wanted them!) in the photo...and his Dad didn't want him to...:-) Then remember the series of photos when We were all cracking up after Will - ahem- passed gas right before the timer went off??? Even Sammy had one eye shut - LOL. I have to finish my cards. I have to make Sherry's Santa's Helpers - my new job as business manager at the public library requires that we make cookies for our board of trustees for their monthly meeting which is Monday - and I decided on those. Plus Will wants some. :-) We have a work Christmas party for Scott tomorrow night. Lots going on! Stacy

@kel_kat5 There are many ergonomic factors that need to be considered when determining sink depth. Double bowl sinks need to be deeper because large items, such as cookie sheets, trays, and other large items will not fit flat down in the bowl. They are generally washed by putting them half in and half out of the bowl at an angle while washing the bottom half, then flipping it around to wash the other half. These sinks should be 9 or 10" deep depending on your height. If you are shorter than 5'4" or taller than 6'0", I would suggest a 9" deep bowl. A shorter person and taller person will find it uncomfortable to reach down to the bottom of a 10" deep bowl. The best scenario, in my opinion, is a single bowl sink with a rear corner drain. That allows the user to lay large items flat down inside the sink to wash them without covering the drain. In this case, the sink should be 8" deep for most users, however, the same situation is true with shorter or very tall users. The bowl should be just a tad shallower. The reasoning here is that the user will be working at the bottom of the bowl all the time and reaching below 8" is ergonomically uncomfortable. The drain location should be placed in the right rear corner for right-handed users and in the left rear corner for left-handed users. The reasoning here is simple. A right-handed person will always hold a dish in their left hand and scrape debris into the disposal with their right hand. If you follow the motion of the right hand it leads to the right rear of the sink. There is another reason that is often overlooked. If the drain is in the right rear, the dish will be slightly turned toward the drain instead of perpendicular to the user. When a spray is used on the dish, the water will reflect away from you with the rear corner drain instead of potentially at you when the dish is perpendicular to your body. I have studied ergonomics for 40 years, the first 20 years, as a professional kitchen designer and the last 20 years as a sink designer. It has been my passion all of those years to provide ergonomically comfortable kitchens and sinks as well as to design kitchens and sinks that save time. Quick update....Just found out Dom and Danielles mom has passed away. Kinda takes the wind outta your sails.

They are my kids ages and just super kids. My heart is breaking for them right now....they could use all the prayers they can get!

Mom had breast cancer several years, survived the ordeal then about mid summer she was having headaches and the found a brain tumor which they removed, last week she could not get out of bed. Monday they found cancer in her spinal fluid and told the family not much tme.

By the grace of God it was quick....now the healing must start.

Rest in peace Melissa!

Susie, all I can do is offer my condolences. That's so sad.

Alexa, I'm one who really does enjoy fruitcake. I'll check to see if I have your recipe and if not, I'll start a new thread.

Teresa, I hope the new bread recipe is a success!

No big weekend plans here. We are still limited to cooking with a slow cooker, elect fry pan, microwave or hotplate. All of which have to be scattered around the house so that we don't trip the breakers.
We are making progress on the kitchen, the new refrigerator was brought in from the garage this morning. It's running fine so I guess it's safe to start transferring things from the old one. We are keeping the old one out in the garage for soda's and over flow.

Susie, so sorry to hear that those youngsters lost their dear mother. Condolences to the family.

Wow, bread baking, kitchen remodeling, gardening and shopping. All make my weekend sound rather humdrum. Tim's family Thanksgiving get-together is Saturday....(Yawn).

Sunday I am hoping to make some headway on cleaning and maybe even some baking.

Going out with a girlfriend tonight after work for a quick dinner. I'll raise my glass-o-red to you all then!

Last night I was really saying TGIF!!!!!

After 19 months of being unemployed (to the day) I went back to work for my former employer. The location is one of the skyscrapers in downtown Minneapolis. There are thousands of cubes in this building and I ended up in the exact cube I vacated 19 months ago! How wierd is that?

I started on Wednesday and only worked the three days. This having a job thing is killing me! LOL

Woke up to snow this morning.......looks like 4" with more on the way. No running today - lots of shoveling will have to be my exercise for the day.
